Knee update...feeling much better, gotta keep doing my exercises. 8 hours of work is still kicking my ass being on my feet that long, but it's improving....it no longer feels like I have a screwdriver stuck in my thigh when I'm done work-just a small penknife. I'm planning on getting my fat ass back to the gym soon...gotta be careful not to overdo it again.

I bought a pair of insoles made out of Impact Gel...gotta love Billy Mays. Not sure what's in the damn things but the commercial sucked me in and I gotta say- they work pretty darn good.

I bit the inside of my lip the other day....every time I eat, I manage to get to bite the resulting sore...hurts like hell. That'll teach me to chew slower.

Arlen is a Democrat....I kinda respect the guy just for kicking cancer in the ass.

I don't care what anyone says....Allison Iraheta kicked some major league ass last night. She's only 17? Holy crap.

Really, what I'd like to see is Obama lay the smackdown on these guys.....he's also probably got his foot up someones ass about this as well.

Whatever....they still make shitty cars.

Some's good, more's better...too much is just enough. I want me some of this. On the other hand, if all you do is check e mail and browse a few web sites-this works just as good.

Just watched the latest episode of Deadliest Catch.....the Coast Guard has balls the size of bowling bowls.

Seriously...are the folks at Burger King's ad agency high? Maybe it's just me, but a bunch of girls dancing around with square asses doesn't make me hungry for hamburgers.

till later.

Fishing and hacking...

Dan and I had no luck fishing yesterday morning at Lake Redman.

No worries, I don't think any of the other folks there where having much luck either...it was just great getting out to enjoy a touch of Mother Nature.

Every few months I usually manage to screw up my laptop so badly, I have to format it and start over.

Now is one of those times.

I thought I'd play around with the latest Windows 7 release......I liked it quite a bit but too many things I use weren't working properly....I learned my lesson and will do any further hacking around on one of my older laptops.

I'm typing this on my son's desktop computer with the 24 inch monitor.....kinda like going to see movie at the theater, so much real estate. It's great for games but it's sorta overwhelming for simple web browsing.

Our daughter traded vehicles with me for a couple weeks-she's coming home for summer break and needs the van for bringing all her stuff home. I feel bad for her as the van has no air conditioning...it's like driving a green painted beer can-it gets damn hot in there.

Me? I get to drive her Outback which does have air con. I like overkill so when I use the air conditioning in any vehicle-it goes on full blast and stays on full blast. I like it when you step out of the vehicle and your glasses frost over immediately. Perfect.

I'm not sure what the hell happened to spring, it was over 90 degrees here in beautiful southcentral Pennsyltucky on Sunday. I was planning on doing a bunch of stuff, but in the end-squat got done.

Finally...it was my wife's birthday this weekend. I gotta be one of the luckiest guys on the planet...she is one special girl.

Not sure when the next post will be.....I gots lots to do this week.

Couldn't be arsed...........

Honestly folks.....not much energy to blog lately.

I usually do most of my blogging between the hours of 4 AM and 7AM....this week after putting in 8 hours at work-my ass has been dragging.

Being off work for a month and then coming back after my knee operation has pretty much kicked my hiney.

Not much fun blogging when your tired.

My son and I plan to go fishing later this weekend, that should be fun and we're gonna go see "Cranked"...who doesn't wanna see Jason Stratham hook his nipples up to a car battery?

Obligatory cat video......

Cats with handles.............

Maybe it's the meds I was taking last week...but I had a dream where all cats had handles built into
their upper backs so it was easier to pick them up.

Now that I'm fairly lucid....it still seems like a good idea.

One of my co-workers stopped by last night with her son to say hi.....I can remember when her son was in a stroller-now he's as tall as his mom and he's only 11.

Sometimes I really feel my age....sometimes I don't. (I posted this to my Facebook page already, so if you saw it there-sorry for the repeat link)

Damn near everything on my body is sore after returning to work after having nearly a month off.

No use complaining about it.....howsabout a cat video?

All systems are GO

Woo hoo....I've been cleared to go back to work!

My leg is hella bruised up, but I have minimal knee discomfort.

Even better than being cleared for work-I can do a 1/2 hour of light spinning on the exercise bike.

I can also ride a regular bike for up to a half hour as long as I don't do hills. Since I live on a hill, I rode one of my bikes down to my parent's house-where they live it's as flat as a pancake-perfect for 1/2 hour spins.

After my next appt. in a month if everything is still good-I should be released from doctors care and resume normal activities.

I spent some time outside walking today...no clouds in the sky and mid 60's...perfect weather. To say I'm pumped to get more active would be an understatement. I just have to be very careful about not overdoing it.

I'm also pretty happy I didn't gain any weight in the last 3 weeks, I'm a big milk drinker (sometimes close to a gallon a day) by drinking less milk-I figured out I whacked off close to a 1000 calories a day.

This is a cool fishing video. It's kinda long (10 minutes) but if you are a dad with a son....you'll probably enjoy it. (Thanks for the link Jim)

I just make donuts for a living, but I think it might be time for these guys pull the plug and start over. I don't see how they can cut their way to prosperity.

I really like this guy.....what a sad way to end a career.

132 bucks for a shirt that looks exactly like the ones I used to wear in high school? Nah.

I've done lots of different jobs in my industry...this is true-especially for retail.

This has gotta be one of the coolest pictures ever.

McDonalds can be bad for you many different ways.

I had a drug problem when I was a kid. (Thanks for the link Hank) I'm sure Hank had the same problem when he was a kid as well.......

Business is in the toilet........

Yikes, the economy is slow. Check this chart out-it only starts to get real scary in late 2007. Me thinks we are on the edge of a large hole and we're all getting ready to get sucked in.

Not that I rely on my consulting business to feed my family but I do enjoy making contributions to some of my favorite charities. It's one of the reasons I started the business up.

Not this year-I simply don't have the money...I'm at a zero balance and I still have equipment that I paying off.

One of brother-in-laws is in business for himself and he does feed his family from his earnings...he's extremely worried as he always has a couple of big jobs lined up for the year by now. So far nothing and as an added bonus-his wife is being laid off in June.

Things are bad and I feel extremely lucky to have a pretty good job as does my wife. We are both in trades that will never be obsolete- people eat and they get old and sick.

One of my nieces is considering going to some sort of chef school, I was talking to her on Easter and making here aware that being a chef is nothing like what they show on TV. It can be a good living, but to have some standing in the industry-figure on putting in lots of scutwork and if you're good-maybe you'll be "someone" you're 40.

I talked to a client yesterday and stopped by her house. She had problems getting her task bar to sit at the bottom of the screen. I had it fixed in about 15 seconds and then got a tour of her house. Very cool house, her and her late husband had built on the original house several times through out the years. It had lots of strange hallways and rooms were you weren't expecting rooms.

She's probably in her late 70's or early 80's and she seemed kinda lonely. We had some tea and chatted for awhile.....how much did I charge her? Nothing, I shoulda payed her for the time-what a lovely person-it was a great way to spend an hour of my time.

Yeah, that ain't the best business practice, but another one of the reasons I started computer consulting was to help senior citizen with computers- I hate to see folks go to the big box stores and get taken advantage of. That kinda of stuff really pisses me off because most folks get charged outrageous fees for simple stuff.

This should be passed as law today.

Bored............

Well, I've been off work for 3 weeks and I'm pretty much bored out of my skull.

My stitches were bothering the heck out of me....so I removed them.

Yeah, I'm sure the doctor will be less then pleased when I see him on Thursday.

I don't see any reason I can't get back to work....not that work is *fun* but I hate the fact that someone else has to disrupt their schedule to work my hours.

I did manage to accumulate about 35 grand in Facebook poker winning, to bad it ain't real money.

On the brighter side..one of my favorite TV shows is back on-Deadliest Catch. Not something I would do...riding up and down 40 foot waves ain't my idea of a good time...but is sure is fun to watch.

26 years.....

Actually with all the stuff going on this past week...my wife and I both forgot it was our anniversary.

Oops.

It's all good...neither one of us make a big deal out of that kind of stuff anyways.

How's the knee doing?

The knee itself is doing great but my thigh and all the muscles around my knee are sore as hell from being manipulated during surgery. I'll take the soreness because the knee itself is much, much better.

Happy Easter.

Best, funniest nurse ever.....

This was my prep nurse yesterday.....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

She had a great sense of humor. My wife sat with me as I was getting prepped and as it turns out, they have some mutual friends. She was really funny and put me at ease throughout the whole prep...actually the whole staff at Apple Hill were super nice.

I was a little nervous about the whole thing, I guess it was reflected in my blood pressure, which is was 130/80 last week.....yesterday it was 150/100. Didn't seem to matter in the end-everything went to plan as far as I know.

They wheeled me into surgery and I remember to first 20 seconds or so and after that-it was lights out as soon as they started up the anesthesia.

As of this morning, my knee seems to be a whole lot better...it's somewhat stiff and uncomfortable but I have meds for the pain so things could be worse.

I have a doctors appt. later today. I wanna go back to work as soon as possible because sitting around the house all day is boring as watching paint dry.

Crossing the line........

Did the Onion go to far here?

What do I think?

Nope, I think the article is just fine.

Do I like the article?

Nope, not really....but we live in AMERICA where we have the freedom of speech.

I personally think abortion is a horrible nasty thing but I also don't believe the government or anyone else has the right to tell a woman what to do with her own body.

In the past 230 years, hundreds of thousands of men and women have died defending that right for me.

If you don't like the article...hey-write the Onion and boycott their advertisers.

Just leave me out of it....I swear the first person to email me some dumbass forwarded e mail about the article is gonna get an earful from yours truly.

till later.

Bike trip and some day dreams.....

Not sure if the pain meds I'm taking are responsible or what...but I've been having some funky dreams lately.

For example-

The other night I finished reading one of my favorite magazines right before I fell asleep. I like reading about old bikes, touring bikes, trips, etc.

Anyways, in my dream I was trying to get ready for a bike tour with some friends and I was stuck in this endless loop of remembering stuff that I forgot to pack.

Everytime I would saddle up, one of my friends would ask me if I remembered a particular item and every time-I didn't remember it and would have to dismount, unpack a pannier and repack.

This went on for what seemed like a very long time. In fact it was dark before we headed off to whereever we were going.

Once we were on the road for awhile...I had to stop and change-for some reason I was wearing a pair of coveralls and workboots.

Got back on the road and we eventually got to the ocean where we stopped. For some reason, Journey was playing in the background. End of dream....weird.

Taking a nice bike tour is on my bucket list, but mine will be a little different. I'd like to do something like this.

Mostly flat, stop at hotels to sleep and eat, swim in the hotel pool, watch some satellite TV and pretty much ride at a mellow pace.

Not interested in camping, making my own food or taking a poo in the middle of the woods. I like to ride bikes but I don't like camping a whole lot. My idea of camping is sleeping with the windows open so I hear hear the crickets chirp at night.

We had my parents over for lunch yesterday....my wife makes the bestest most kickass cream of crab soup in the known universe. I helped a little but she tweaked my mom's recipe and made it with skim milk. It tasted creamy without being heavy...not sure how many calories were in a serving, but it was a perfect meal served with a salad and homemade bread.....yum.

This dude is lucky ....no, he's damn lucky he has a good wife and family. I'm not the most perfect guy in the world, but in my 26 years of marriage, stuff like what Spitzer did has never crossed my mind.

Not sure what goes through a guys mind when he cheats on his wife, all I know is that I looked my wife in the eyes when we got married and promised to not be an asshole....(or words to that effect).

Joke time.......

My dear friend Hank sent me this..........

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership.

Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.

'Amazing,' he thought as he flew down I-95, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the state trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.

He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120.

Suddenly he thought, 'What am I doing? I'm too old for this,' and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.

Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, 'Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday.
If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go.'

The old gentleman paused. Then said,

'Three years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back.'

'Have a good day, Sir,' replied the trooper.

Oh my.

I don't necessarily want to jump out of a plane if I make it to 97...but a bike ride would be nice. As I type this....it is absolutely gorgeous outside-damn knee.

If by some miracle I ever get a scooter.....I'm gonna wear a full face helmet.

Japanese TV.......I don't get it.

Today's cat video.....dog massage.

Fast and Furious.........

Our son and I went to see Fast and Furious last night.....my three word movie review-

Things Go BOOM.

Of course, the plot is totally ludicrous-but that ain't the point in these kinds of movies. It the cars, the car chases and the explosions and on that count-this movie scores a solid 9 out of 10.

Car chases I liked better? I'd have to say Ronin and Bullit had better (or more realistic) car chase scenes....whatever, it was an entertaining movie.

My knee was killing me by the time we got out of there but I promised our son we'd go see the movie as soon as it came out.

Not sure how everyone feels about this, but being the nutjob liberal that I am...I think it's a good thing and I wish legislation could pass on a Federal level.

Politics, politics, politics....since I'm a registered Libertarian....I wish the Republicans and Dems would play nice together and earn their pay. Probably wishful thinking on my part.

This is gonna be a big problem.

This is today's dumbass criminal of the day.

Some folks assume.......

I have a few clients and a few family members that love to send me unsolicited forwarded e mails.

Maybe because when I'm at a client's house I tend to nod and agree with them when they discuss political stuff so as not to appear rude. Most of my in-laws are staunch dyed in the wool Republicans and guess what?

I'm totally okay with that.

If I'm at your house and you want to discuss religion or politics-I'm gonna keep my mouth shut so I don't appear rude or upset folks with my somewhat extreme political views.

If you're at my house and wanna discuss politics-I'm gonna suggest we change the topic of discussion.

Insist on discussing politics or religion?

Well, we're gonna have a lively discussion and somebody will probably end up with hurt feelings because I go for the throat...nothing personal, I just hate to lose arguments, debates or anything else for that matter.

Whatever, just stop sending me forwarded emails about politics or religion-I ain't interested.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking...."Donut Guy, you talk about politics and religion on your blog all the time...what's the deal?"

The deal is that you choose to come here-if something I write pisses you off-you have several choices.

Do nothing, go to another web site or leave a polite comment and we can have a civilized online discussion. If you wanna be an asshole in the comments section, no biggie-I'll just delete your comment and ban your IP.

I read lots of stuff that pisses me off, but 99.99% of the time I blow it off unless I personally know the person well enough to call them on the phone and discuss the issue....after all, this is the Internet and everyone with a PC and an opinion can be heard.

If you don't like what they have to say...go outside and play.

Just don't forward me stupid e mails.

till later.

I don't do waiting real good............

Impatient is my middle name. Actually, my middle name is Leroy....but for the sake of the blog post....it's gonna be "Impatient".

Just sitting around the house with nothing to do except play around with my computers, watch TV or taking a nap sound like fun?

Nope.

I'd rather be back at work.....just sitting around is killing me. Sure, we have the Bowflex where I can at least get some decent upper body exercise....but nothing beats getting some heart pounding exercise.

My main enemy is ice cream......dear Lord- I love me some ice cream. I'm limiting myself to one bowl in the evening. Yeah, I know that's probably the worst time of the day to eat ice cream, but that's what makes me happy.

On the plus side, I'll be able to go to see some of our sons ball games after school..he's the manager of the girls softball team...for some reason, I enjoy watching softball way more than baseball.

When I was a kid, all my buddies and I would ride our bikes here and watch softball tournaments....good times for sure.

One thing I'll be doing for the next couple days is helping my lovely wife do the taxes. We do them on one of our computers and then file online. I get to do all the data entry from last year and plug in this years numbers.....beats sitting around staring at the wall.

I did go to the pharmacy and get my painkiller prescription filled...I have a huge container of Vicodin.....If it's gonna hurt as much as I have pills for- I might be a little doped up for a couple days after the operation.

My mom will like this....best paper sculpture you will see today.

Oh yeah....I almost forgot today's cat video.

till later.

Now all I have to do is wait........

Over the past two days, I've had a chest x-ray, several knee x rays, a knee MRI, an electrocardiogram and blood work done.

Now all I have to do is wait until next Wednesday for my operation. It's gonna kill me to be sitting until next week but the doc said all I have to do is land my weight on the knee wrong and I could damage it further......I'm not really interested in doing that-it hurts enough already.
