Had a great ride Sunday afternoon down at Lake Redman, although it was a touch hot. By a touch, I mean close to 90 degrees.
The thing with mountain biking is that you never really build up much speed, so the gnats can usually keep up with you. I rub a dryer sheet all over my arms, head and jersey before I ride and that cuts down on them quite a bit, but it's still kinda annoying when they fly in your face.
I didn't realize how screwed up the shifting was on my mountain bike until I had the LBS replace the hanger and tune everything up. It's like a new bike. Thanks Izzy, you're one helluva bike mechanic.
We rode over the sections they logged 2 years ago and the still look really rough. Rough as in no trees or vegatation has grown back. It's all dirt. The same with what they logged this year, but the sections they logged this year are covered with all the dead tree limbs they didn't want to process.
We also stopped and talked to a guy that lives near the logged area, he wasn't very happy about it either. He was telling us about the prostitution and drug dealing that goes on in some of the secluded areas of the park. He also told us that he was propositioned down at Redman by one of the Parks maintainence employees awhile back.......nice.
Bikes are the world's most energy efficient transportation-it says so right here.
Till later.
