Pabst beer is normal.......
My friend Hank sent me this..............
"Why men shouldn't take messages"
Haven't had much time to post in the last week or so, work has been hectic as all get out and my plan to ride 3 times a week sorta fell apart. I did get in one good ride, so one ride is better then no ride.
I got a new battery for my bike headlight, it is one heavy SOB, pretty much looks like 1/4 of a car battery....it was only 18 bucks and it will give me 4 hours of burn time with my 10 watt light, so I can't complain too much.
Prepped up for night riding, my bike weighs over 45 pounds and between the reflective tape, the blinkies, the lights and my reflective vest.....if someone hits me-they were probably aiming for me.
The "Bailout"....oh yeah, this oughta go well. As a card carrying Libertarian-I think the market should take care of itself. Right now, it's in the hands of one guy.
I watched highlights of the first Presidential debate....it woulda been nice if McCain could have made some eye contact with Obama. That tells me that McCain is already a beat man. The VP debate oughta be a real circus.
Another famous person gets busted for DUI. here's an idea- let the newspaper publish a spread on every person that gets busted for DUI. Yeah, I know that's a little unrealistic, but if you knew your full size mugshot was gonna be published in the local paper-you might not drink and drive.
One of my hobbies is photography......I don't get out as much as I'd like to.
One of my guilty TV pleasures is back for season two.
I am a Libertarian.........I just checked.
till later.

Think about this..........
There are people in my town, your town and just about every town in America that went to bed hungry last night.
We haven't discovered the cure for cancer, MS, aids or any other number of diseases.
How is it that 4 guys from the government can shit out 700 billion dollars of our taxpayer dollars over a weekend to bail out a bunch of their greedy Wall Street cronies?
I don't know about you folks.....but it pisses me off.
In other news....Clay is gay. Shocker.
Please.

Nice day for a ride....
Overcast, mid 60's and a light breeze. If every day was like Tuesday-I'd be in bike riding heaven. I'm not sure if I'll be saying the same thing in 3 months, but right now-I'm good to go.
I rode around in a sub-division I drive by on my way to work. It was a farmers field 5 years ago, now it is full of hundreds of McMansions. Not sure where all those folks came from, but now I know why traffic is so bad. It's only one subdivision of many that didn't exist 10 or 15 years ago.
I ordered a new battery for my main bike light, It's twice as big as the one it's replacing, hopefully it will last longer than the 90 minutes I was getting out of the old one.
I want to ride at least every other day.....none of my clothes fit as well as they used to, so it's time to lose a few pounds.
A friend sent me this...........
AAADD KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye - they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day: the car isn't washed the bills aren't paid there is a warm can of pepsi sitting on the counter the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car key s.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day, and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....
Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!
Yeah....I think I have it. Thanks Val :-)
Scraper bikes.....I kinda like'em and after all-bikes is bikes.
Mmmm, I wonder how many banks the Federal government is planning to own?

I'm confused......
I went out for an early fall ride and it was up over 90 degrees on Sunday. I did about 20 miles and headed for home when I ran out of water. If this is global warming....I'm moving to Canada. I got a late start so some of the blame lies with me, but by 11AM-it was pretty damn hot. After the ride, I cut my grass. I ain't too damn smart am I?
Just got done working on a computer and the insides looked like this computer. That's not the worst, when I get a computer from a smoker and pet owner.....that's the worst.
Lemme get this right....140,000 people defied evacuation orders and now they want rescued? If I was in charge? I'd send them a bill for rescue services.
Another big bank is gonna shit the bed. Lovely. I ain't the smartest guy in the world, but I bet greediness, ego and stupidity had something to do with it.
I'm a middle aged white guy and before watching this video....I never understood what the guys were saying when they performed freestyling rap.....now I do.

Back to computers........
I was working on a client's computer yesterday and had the whole thing done except for one final Windows patch.........you guessed it, that last patch hosed all my work. Next time, I'll install all the missing Windows patches first.
Hurricane Ike........not good. Let's hope that not too many of the folks that decided to stay didn't get killed.

My ass hurts.
Sitting in front of a computer.......you don't sweat nearly as much as when you're trying to keep up with your buddies on a bike ride.
2nd day out in a row on the bike and only very moderate knee pain...my rear end is a little tender though
We did about 20 miles of rolling hills both days-any time you do a bike ride and nobody crashes or gets hurt and only one motorist got the finger from me...it's a good bike ride.
I think I'll try to fit at least an hour a day of riding in now that it's cooler.....sweating like a pig has absolutely no appeal to me- I think I'm turning into a cold weather rider. Go figure, I used to hate being out in the cold.

I've been staying away (mostly) from political bullshit, because that's what most of it is....bullshit.
McCain can't do any worse than Bush did, but the dude is old (to be running for 8 years in office) and his VP......I'm sure she did okay these past two years running a state with less than a million people living in it...but I'm not ready for President Palin......chances are that it could easily happen. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but at least I know what the "Bush Doctrine" is....
Obama? Not so sure about him either. Granted, his speeches are very good and he's one helluva thinker.....but he ain't got much experience either.
As usual-it's down to the picking of the lesser of two evils.......I'm a registered Libertarian, so if I vote for my party's candidate and Obama loses by one vote to McCain....I'll feel bad. Yeah, I know the "one vote" thing is preposterous, but I look at the election from 2000.....stranger things have happened.
My wife and I went to the York Fair Thursday afternoon.....budgets are tight. Me? I just think most of the food is overpriced. I had a big bowl of my wife's famous macaroni and cheese before I left the house and didn't buy anything to eat, just a drink. I did wanna buy a magnetic bracelet. but I forgot to before we left.
Damn, this is a big one.......Mother Nature sure has a twisted sense of humor.

Where the hell am I?
My buddy Mike and I went on a ride in a part of York County I haven't ridden in a while. About once every 20 minutes or so, I'd recognize something and 2 minutes later....I was back to being lost.
Not sure how many miles we did (we were out for about 2 hours), but I like those kinds of rides.
My wife was flipping through the TV channels last night and we got a glimpse of this show. Is ABC serious? I will be disappointed but not surprised if this show becomes a hit. Americans can't be that damn dumb.
Me? I kinda like science shows.
You know....for the science:-)
Class is canceled.
Who won...the cat or the printer?

Spore...........
I've been reading about and waiting for this game for a couple years. I'm not much for playing computer games but so far....I really like this game. I'm only in the very beginning stages of it, but so far-it's a blast.
If I had lots of money, I'd go travel to France next year and watch him try and win number 8.
AUSTIN, Texas – September 9, 2008 – Today, Lance Armstrong, cancer survivor, founder and chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and cycling champion, released the following statement regarding his return to professional sports:
“I am happy to announce that after talking with my children, my family and my closest friends, I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden.
This year alone, nearly eight million people will die of cancer worldwide. Millions more will suffer in isolation, victims not only of the disease but of social stigma. After the passage of Proposition 15 in Texas, a $3 billion investment in the fight against cancer which is helping to make this disease part of the national dialogue in America, it’s now time to address cancer on a global level.”
Mr. Armstrong will discuss his cycling program and an international LIVESTRONG strategy on September 24th in New York City at the Clinton Global Initiative.
I know lots of folks don't like him, but I think he's a total badass.
Today's art break........find the human.
Now that I'm on vacation this week since jury duty was a wash.......it's time for a few slacker days. What's on my plate? My lovely wife and I are gonna go to the York Fair and people watch.
Some of the folks you see there are just plain fun to watch. The fair also has some awesome crafts to check out.
Greek version of "Hey fellas, watch this".
Wow, this is sneaky. I bet lots of people fall for it.
Headin' out for a ridey ride.......

Jury Duty....
First off..........I didn't get picked. I'm not sure what factors are involved but I'm sure I tripped a few "do not choose" alerts with some of my answers to the questionnaire they handed out.
Since it was a murder case and one of the questions I answered yes to was "Do you have any family or friends that were murdered?".....I probably got precluded right there.
I'm just glad I had my iPod with me so I could watch videos because I burned through all the reading material I had before lunchtime. Nothing like having 130 people crammed into a room with shitty ventilation for 9 hours.
I coulda went for a walk over lunch but since no one allows smoking in any of their buildings downtown, guess where everyone smokes?
Right outside their office.
That and I didn't wanna have to get undressed again to clear security to get back in the building.
Not sure if my mom and dad had a metal plate installed in my head when I was a kid without me knowing about it, but I tripped the metal detector 5 or 6 times. I had to take my belt off, my shoes off, empty my pockets and the damn thing still went off. The guy actually had to pat me down so I could get in the building.....it was quite the show.
Between the security and running the smoking gauntlet....I stayed inside and ate the lunch my wife packed me.
......................I'm absent minded.
I found something that will help me remember stuff. Since I have text messaging on my cell phone, I set this up. As long as I remember to send myself messages......I should be good to go.
Did I mention that I am completely and utterly absent-minded?
Yes, I did, didn't I?

Ahhhhh...........
I woke up on Saturday to Hurricane Hannah passing through........nice cool weather. It sorta sideswiped Pennsylvania, all we got was a drenching rain and some wind. This one looks like it could be a biggie.
Anybody try Google Chrome yet? Nice browser, super quick but it doesn't have a sidebar and you can't install plug-ins.
I start jury duty on Monday....from what I've heard from a couple of friends that have gone through it-it's fairly boring. I'm glad I have a stack of unread magazines to go through.
I don't buy many games, but I'll be buying this one. I've been waiting for a couple of years for it to come out.
Donuts and beer have something in common. Our donuts have increased in price 3 times this year and our sales are higher then ever.
Ouch.
This pretty much sums up America in 2008.

In defense of Wal-Mart bikes......
A co worker of mine recently bought a BSO from Wal-Mart and is riding it to work. Couple of the guys were making fun of him for riding in to work every night when he has a perfectly good SUV he could drive.
His reasoning is that the BSO from Wal-Mart cost less than a tank of gas for his Jeep and if the bike lasts until wintertime, he can donate it and buy another one next year.
Honestly, it's kinda hard to argue with that logic.
I know it's soon fall because we have all our fall, Halloween and Thanksgivings decorations and merchandise out for sale where I work. As soon as Halloween is over.....it's Christmas time. I really hate that time of the year because it's still usually really nice out and all the stores are trying to jam Christmas down our throats.
I'm not voting for McCain for a number of reasons.....I do have to admit- the dude does have a pretty big set of balls. Not sure if having Palin as his VP was the smartest choice but like I said....
Dick scares the hell out of me. As a sidenote, enlarge the picture of him embedded on the web page....that is one thick limo door. The troops over in Iraq could use armour that thick.
I can tell school is back in session, lots less kids in the store after 9 PM and lots more college students. The latest clothing fad for college students is wearing pajamas 24/7.
Sure beats last years fad of having the word "juicy" printed on the ass of your sweatpants.

The year I graduated high school........Smokey and the Bandit came out. This is probably in my top ten list of songs. RIP Jerry.
That movie was responsible for most of my friends driving around in Trans Ams.
Me?
I had a VW Beetle......VW's are way better than TA's.
In other news........I actually rode my bike to do errands on Tuesday. How many miles? About 12.

Riding a bike is way better than driving.
