Logging at Lake Redman.......

I've been in e-mail contact with a reporter from the YDR and I'll be talking to them by phone later today in regards to the recent logging at Lake Redman (Kain Park).

Duane Close from the York Water Company has agreed to meet with the members of YAMBA to discuss what's going on with the logging activity.

I'm sure we'll have some questions for him like............

-Whenever our club does any new trailwork, a naturalist from the Parks department comes out and inspects the area with are going to disturb so that we don't harm any habitats that need preserved. Did the York Water company do this? I kinda doubt it as there isn't much left where there used to be flora, fauna and old growth forest.

Now it's just dirt and tree stumps.

-When we the area be re-planted with new trees? Previous areas logged by the water company 2 years ago haven't been replanted.

-Why log in the first place? Sure, I know they own the land, but it's a county park, it's not (in my opinion) a commercial working forest. Other heavily wooded county parks which are owned by the county aren't logged. Why log this one?

It least the water company has the balls to meet with us-gotta give them credit for that.

Here's the email our club sent out to all it's members.........
