Meat Snack Center

My wife and I had a great visit with our daughter on Wednesday.

She's going to Italy next week on spring break and we went up to drop off her Euros and took her shopping for last minute supplies. Being the frugal and smart shopper our daughter is, it's fun to able to take her out so she can get stuff she wouldn't normally buy with her own money.

My wife took me out on some errands yesterday, one of the places we stopped at was Food Lion.

The best part about Food Lion is that they have a "Meat Snack Center". You can't miss it, it has a sign and everything. Most of the Food lions are in the south, so us being north of the Mason-Dixon line get to see what southerners eat.

Evidently, y'all like your meat snacks a whole lot......

One of my friends sent me this 3 minute management course.....

Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her
shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel
and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the
next-door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to
drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and
stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and
leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When
she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the
next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "did he say
anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Management lesson: If you share critical information pertaining to credit
and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent
avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2

A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her
habit to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling
the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, "Father,
remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he
let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father,
remember Psalm 129?" The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is
weak ." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at
the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and
seek, further up, you will find glory."

Management lesson: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss
a great opportunity.

Lesson 3

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch
when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The
Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish." Me first! Me first!"says
the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without
a care in the world." Puff! She's gone. Me next! Me next!" says the sales
rep. "I want to be in Hawaii ,relaxing on the beach with my personal
masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Puff!
He's gone."OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says,
"I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Management lesson: Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 4

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw
the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?" The eagle
answered: "Sure, why not."So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle
and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate
it.

Management lesson: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting
very, very high up.

Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the
top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." Well,
why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. They're
packed with nutrients. "The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it
actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.
The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of
the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Management lesson: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you
there.

Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze
and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow
came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the
pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually
thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for
joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate Following
the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and
promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management lesson: Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy. Not everyone
who gets you out of shit is your friend. And when you're in deep shit, it's
best to keep your mouth shut!

This ends the 3-minute management course.

Gotta thank Hank for that one.

...I've learned a couple of those lessons.

‘Outside forces tend to divide people up.’

Bush: ‘Outside forces tend to divide people up.’

It doesn't get much dumber then this.

He can't be that damn dumb.

Oh wait, he is.

Today.......

........I'm gonna brag about my kids and one of our daughters friends.

First up, our son has done what no other male McNally has done in recorded history.

He is on the distinguished honor roll at high school.

When I was in high school, I was mostly a "B" student that really didn't apply myself as much as I should have.....boy, would I like a do-over on that.

Our son hits the books way more then I ever did, he has an afterschool part-time job that lets him study as he works and he utilizes all his free time at school to study.

He a good kid and were proud as all get-out of him.

Our daughter is going to Italy for a week on spring break....she saved up all the money with her part-time jobs. My wife and I are driving up to see her today and set up her with a supply of Euros.

You will not meet a more motivated 20 year old than our daughter. Like our son, were also extremely proud of what she has achieved in scholastic career.

We got good kids.

Today's science break......life without the moon.

Today's history break......direct from Russia.

Bill Clinton loses his cool.....our daughter is best friends with the guy holding the sign. Agree with our daughters friend or not-I very much like the fact that Andrew (the guy holding the sign) has the balls to stick that sign right in Bill's face.

We need more young people that aren't afraid to get the hell off the couch and do something. Our country will go to hell in a handbasket in 30 years if all the kids out there don't do something besides play computer games and hang out on Facebook.

Agree with Andrew or not......the dude is out there doing something.

What are you doing?

till later.

I am *hot*..

At least my knees are.

My awesome wife bought me some capsaicin cream for my knees. I have to say-the stuff works great.

I've found that I have to be extremely fastidious when I wash my hands after I apply it.

If you don't clean it off your fingers really, really good-it stays on your fingers for awhile. So it's not a good idea to touch any part of your body or it gets hot even if you don't want it to..

I blew my nose and somehow got some on the inside of my nose-I'd imagine this stuff would be a really good decongestant. It felt like my nostrils were about an inch wide-I had no trouble breathing.

So what's everyone think about the Democratic primary battle? Me? I hope Hilary loses for only one reason......I can't stand her screeching voice. It's like fingernails across a chalkboard and there's no way I want to listen to it for the next 4/8 years. Molly Ivins has her reasons as well.

A joke.......

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand.

He approached her and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know me?”
She responded, “Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams.

I’ve known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you’ve been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you’re a big shot when you haven’t the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.”

The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?”

She again replied, “Why, yes, I do. I’ve known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He’s lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can’t build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.”

The defense attorney almost died.
The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said, “If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I’ll send you to the electric chair.”

There's a lunar eclipse on Wednesday evening.....don't miss it.

I wish them the best.....I'm just glad I'm not Gary's IT guy, he's a little hard on printers.

My wife and I might go here to lose some money this week. We visited our optician yesterday and he suggested it for a day trip. Right now, the slots are configured to pay back 99%, so it will take us longer to lose our money.

This kind of news is scary, "anything for a buck" ain't always the best way to do business.

Zero miles per gallon.

My mom will like this. She is a crafting genius.

Elvis actually ate these? No wonder he died sitting on the pot.

This is funny.

There's lots of pros and cons to this, but one thing is sure...an armed society is a polite society.

This article is sorta long, but this is one helluva hike. Since I don't like heights....I think I'll skip this one.

Here's the solution to this woman's problem...don't buy more house than you can afford...or if that doesn't work-get a second and third job to pay off your debts.

Don't spend money ya can't pay back.....

till later.

I was bored........

I used to watch quite a few NASCAR races back in the day.....now?

Not so much.

Having said that, I still like to watch at least the opening race (the Daytona 500), the road course races and the races at Bristol.

Yesterday, about 30 minutes was all I could take and I didn't bother to tape the rest of it. I figured that I'd spend more time fast forwarding through commercials then actually watching the race.

Before NASCAR became "popular", you could count on a commercial maybe once every 10 or 15 minutes just like any other TV show. Yesterday, the time between commercials and actual racing was darn close to an even split. In other words...unwatchable.

I guess I'm old school, I used to enjoy watching drivers like Tim Richmond trade some paint and not be afraid to talk smack in the pits. Nowadays, the drivers are afraid of saying something that will upset one of their sponsors. With as much as they are being paid, I suppose I can't blame them, but still...

I guess I'll wait until NASCAR isn't so popular to watch more races.....

till later.

How the heck..........

..........was everyone's "V" day? To be honest, I slept through most of it.

I did buy my lovely wife a pint of her favorite ice cream and some fresh cut up fruit for her to take to work and share with her co-workers.

What did my wife get me?

As far as I'm concerned-she hit one out of the park.

She made her boys (our son and I) a chocolate cake with a layer of chocolate icing topped with a layer of p-nut butter icing on top of that.

Yum......I know I'm really watching what I eat in the mornings before I hit the sack, but it's calling me......

Next week, we are taking a week of vacation together and doing some serious goofing off. We have plans to visit our daughter on Wednesday but other than that......we're gonna do our taxes, read, watch TV, take a few mini-road trips and fit several quality naps in as well.

Taking a nap in the middle of a day were you having nothing scheduled in the first place is one of my favorite things to do.

till later.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Oh. My. God.

Our 20 year old daughter sent me this and dared me to watch the whole thing......

That kid is gonna be so helpless when she gets out into the real world.

I'm proud to say our kids are totally different then that.

Except we did give our daughter a car.

A 7 year old car.

With 90,000 miles on it.

And we made her pay for her own insurance and gas.

We're such bad parents.

It's kinda fun......

It's kinda fun having an internet savvy mom.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

She sent me the above picture....

I was busy working on computers last week, not much time for blogging.

I follow several biker blogs and some of the authors ride year round no matter what the weather is like.

Me?

Not so much.

I stepped outside yesterday morning and the temperature was 11 degrees without any windchill factored in. I've ridden in temps that cold before, you just have to dress for it and mentally prepare for it as well. I have the clothes but not the mental.....

The Number #1 worst food in America.....my wife bought the book that this came from-"Eat This, Not That" last week.......it has lots of very interesting facts about food.

Best picture you'll see today.

Family dinner........

Just a quick post......Between regular work and my computer consulting-I'm slammed this weekend, but I had to post this up-my parents will get a laugh out of this one.......

I heard this on NPR last night at work.....and it made me laugh out loud.

When I was growing up, my folks sacrificed a lot of things so my mom could stay at home when I was in elementary school. I often walked home for lunch (the school was a block away) and we always, always had family dinner.

Since I was an only child.....at first I sat in between my parents as we ate and talked about the days events.

As I got older, my mom had to move me to one end of the table out of my fathers reach.....my pop and I used to (and still do) love to argue and if I guess my mom figured it was better if my dad couldn't knock me upside the head if things got too heated.

Seriously though, we would argue about the dumbest stuff and since I was just a kid, he was usually right most of the time-but it didn't stop us from "discussing" things-we both enjoyed it immensely....my mom?

Not so much.

To be honest, the only argument I ever remember winning is the one where he thought diesel engines had sparkplugs. Since I was really into cars, etc-I knew that diesel engines had glowplugs and not sparkplugs.

He had a hard time with that one, he still insisted they had "plugs".....then we'd start all over again and argue about exactly what a plug was.

Drove my mom nuts.......

One toke over the line.............

There ain't NO way these folks had any idea what a "toke" was......

I invented something.......

Yeah, that's right.

Oatmeal's good, right?

Even better with raisins, correct?

I gotta tell ya, it's pretty darn awesome with a handful of M&M's thrown in right before you eat it.

What do I know, I like canned tuna in my Spaghetti-O's......

This is just too weird not to share......

It's all about the fastnachts..........

Just got done working my least favorite day of the year, Fastnacht Day. Instead of standing in front of a donut fryer for 1 or 2 hours of my shift....I'm pretty much glued there the whole evening.

Not much fun.

Anyways, won't be posting much this week-I have lots of client computers and consulting to work on in my spare time.....I love it when a plan comes together.

An informal poll..........

Just curious, what would you (my faithful readers) pay to have someone come to your place of residence or business and photodocument all of your possessions for insurance purposes?

We recently changed insurance carriers and our agent suggested to us that we take digital pictures of all our valuables and store them off site in CD form.

My lovely wife thought it would be a great business to start up and I tend to agree with her because she's pretty darn smart.

I spent lots of time thinking about and researching before starting up my computer business...any thoughts out there?

My thinking is that I would go to someones house, have them take me from room to room and take as many pictures as they feel they need of all their valuables, furniture, electronics, etc.

I'd burn them to several sets of CD's and also set up a Google Photo album for each client so they could access all their pics online.

Would anyone out there pay 99 bucks for something like this?

Thoughts?

Too much fun.........

I enjoy fixing computers, so I started up a home based business fixing them that's turned out to be fairly successful and I get to buy all kinds of tech toys with the proceeds and write them off as business related expenses.

Is this country great or what?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Our new laptop is sooo cute.

My plan is to lend it out to clients when I am fixing their computers, not too many techs offer something like that around here, hopefully it will pay for itself. It runs a version of Linux and does most everything a Windows computer does but it's quite a bit simpler to run.

I''m also having fun sticking TV shows into my iPod Touch....it's kinda of a pain to encode them properly (hint-use handbrake) but it could be worse. There's also tons of cool video podcasts I'll be able to watch on the go as well. I have about 2500 songs , it all fits with room to spare and it's neat to be able to check e-mail and surf websites on it.

I thought it would be kinda hard to read the text of web sites, but it's actually not too bad, you can magnify sites by "pinching" and "spreading" them with your fingers. hard to explain-easy to do. I wouldn't want to surf on it for a couple hours but for a few minutes at a time-it's just fine. The Google maps and weather are pretty neat as well.

A couple of folks have emailed me about how I like the iTouch so far- overall I really like it with one exception-the keyboard is just a tiny bit to small for my fat fingers. It's usable but I have to type slowly. Other than that-it's pretty much the ultimate iPod.

I finally got around to listening to the Presidents State of the Union address......wow, all I can say is he's an incredibly bad public speaker. I honestly wanted to hear what he said but it was painful to listen to. How the hell did he get elected in the first place?

Like Barack or not....he's one helluva public speaker. Will he win the Democratic nomination? Don't know, but I sure hope she doesn't win.

These two guys? You have got to be kidding me. Mitt just oozes slime and McCain is so damn honest about what he wants to do he's scary. I appreciate his honesty about what he wants to do and where he stands on the issues but he's a touch too conservative for me....being the Libertarian nutjob that I am:-)

Enough about politics.......

Two rednecks are out hunting, and as they’re walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.

The first hunter says ” Wow, that’s some hole, I can’t even see the bottom, I wonder how deep it is?” The second hunter says” I don’t know, let’s throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom.”

The first hunter says ” There’s this old transmission here, give me a hand and we’ll throw it in and see”. So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole.

They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind em. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole with no hesitation, and jump in headfirst.

While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole, and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. “Say there”, says the farmer, “you fellers didn’t happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?”

The first hunter says ” Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin’ about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!”

And the old farmer said ” Why that’s impossible, I had him chained to a transmission! ”

People are getting tired of paying 5 bucks for a cup of coffee. I like the occasional cup of joe, but I can't tell the difference between convenience store coffee and Starbucks.

If she's lucky......she'll be out of the spotlight for a few weeks-the woman needs help and I hope she gets it.

Drunk drivers ain't the smartest.....thing is, if she gets a decent attorney, she'll be able to get out of the charges easily.....if she's that smart and judging by the video-I don't think she is.

Your shipment of "fail" has arrived.

Think your life sucks? It doesn't. Like my good friend who's an E.R. nurse said....all he has to do is go to work to realize how lucky he is. I totally agree- for the most part, even the poor folks here in America don't have to eat mudpies to fill their bellies.

Whenever I hear people bitch about how bad they have it-I just wanna slap them up side the head.....there's always someone else who has it worse.

Count your blessings folks.

Being a good little consumer.........

I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy. After looking at the Eee PC laptop from Asus for the last couple months....I bought one.

Not a whole lot of money and I plan to loan it out to my clients (for an additional fee) so they don't have to go without a computer if they really need one while I'm fixing theirs.

I also bought an iPod touch.....just because I think they are way cool. Now that I've bought one-they'll probably come out with a new and improved model in a month. I hate it when Apple does that.

I was off this past weekend, other than re-cabling my son and I's workstation (formerly the dining room table) I totally goofed off. Yeah, I know the words "bike riding" is in the title of the blog, but my damn knees hurt to much to do any riding. I'm not complaining-there are tons of folks out there with way worse problems than sore knees.

Since I have 4 weeks of vacation now, my lovely wife and I are going to take a winter vacation this year. We don't get to spend much quality time together due to our opposing work schedules, so I am totally ready to hang out with my sweetie for a week. Good times for sure.
_____________________________________

Yada, yada, yada......best news as far as I'm concerned? Less then a year to go before he goes, I just hope he doesn't do anything any dumber then he has already.

The Super Bowl is on this weekend.....I had to ask someone who's playing against New England. My wife and I love watching the game for the commercials....the game is okay but not nearly as fun to watch. I guess I'm not much of a stick and ball sports fan.

Fema trailers.........damn, that's some scary stuff because lots of folks live in mobile homes. Maybe that's one of the problems of our government-they seem to be more concerned about who's at fault for screw ups than fixing the screw ups.

22 years ago, I was off sick that day and watched it happen live. Kinda something you never forget.

I had to clean this one up a little bit.....I used the word "weenie"-I hope it's not too offensive....

A five-year-old boy and his grandfather are sitting on the front porch together, when grandpa pulled a beer out of the cooler.

The little boy asked, “Grandpa, can I have a beer?

Grandpa replied “Can your weenie touch your ass?

The little boy answered, “No Grandpa, It’s just a little wiener!”

Grandpa said, Then you’re not man enough to have a beer.

A little later Grandpa lit up a cigar. The little boy asked, “Grandpa, can I have a cigar?”

Once again, Grandpa asked, “Can your weenie touch your ass?” The little boy answered “no,”again.

Grandpa said, “Then your not man enough to have a cigar.” A little later, the boy came out of the house with some cookies and milk. Grandpa asked, “Can I have a cookie?”

The boy asked, “Can your weenie touch your ass?” Grandpa replied, Hell yeah, my weenie can touch my ass!”

The boy replied, Then go **** yourself! Grandma made these for me.”

Snopes.com is pushing adware. I never see it because I use a modified host file...so should you.

Have a flashlight in your kitchen drawer? It's not really a flashlight....THIS is a flashlight.

I like bicycles and all.....but I'm also a pistonhead. Anybody that calls themselves the Nitro Circus Thrillbillies is A-OK with me. I bet those guys have a hard time getting life insurance.

Now I'm no expert, but this guy seems to have some good ideas and lots of folks like him. Whether or not he can get elected and have a chance to implement any of them remains to be seen.

Very cool Pepsi commercial.

This is a must read......

Pedal Pushers Online | Tara Llanes: Determined to Recover, Wheelchair ridden after an event day crash, Downhill Racer Tara Llanes vows to defy her doctors and ride again

The old neighborhood........

My friend Bob stopped by work the other night to give me some bad news....one of our other friends mom passed away. Kind of a bummer although from the way it sounded, it wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bob was my best man at our wedding and we got to talking about all the good times and all the hell we used to raise when we were younger versions of ourselves. I grew up in a working class neighborhood where not too many of us went of to college....we all got jobs after high school.....that's the way it was back then.

After we talked for awhile we wished we could of did a do-over on the education part, between us, we have 3 kids attending college right now...........I guess the moral of the story is-you can never have too many smarts.

I think I might get a hard time for this one, but I've been listening to country music and liking it! I've been listening to a little bit of Trace Adkins....kinda like redneck country music if that's a category. I actually like all kinds of music, the only stuff I don't really enjoy is urban rap and hip-hop.

Lets face it, I'm a 48 year old white guy.....that kind of music isn't not really targeted at my demographic.

Guys my age are supposed to be into yard care and getting that mid-life crisis convertible. I don't really care that much about how green the grass is, as long as it doesn't die-I'm happy. As for the convertible......unless the money fairy comes by and shits out 40 grand-I don't see any fancy cars in my immediate future.

I did find one thing I want to buy, our store has an entire display of these. I think it's a hoot to walk by them and push the buttons on all of them the hear the Fox NFL theme. What can I say, it doesn't take much to make me happy.

Been thinking about getting one of those iPod Touches......still not sure yet, I'll probably go to the store and play around with one to see how easy it is to enter contact info and such. The only thing that I don't like about Apple is that they make too much cool stuff I can't afford.

10 dicks. I had a teacher named Dick Bender in high school. His mom and dad musta had a sick sense of humor.

How to be a good parent......or not.

I was right.........

I'm watching "The Moment of Truth" as I am writing this.....it's like an hour long train wreck. The first guy on the show.....he's gonna be sleeping on the couch for a few nights.

I'd go on the show, but I lead a fairly boring life so it wouldn't very entertaining.

Pat Paulson for President....

I know I'm gonna date myself here, but does anyone remember Laugh-In and the Smothers Brothers? About the times those shows were on, a guy named Pat Paulson ran for President.

Too bad somebody like that isn't around now to give it a shot. I'd vote for Ron Paul, but I kinda doubt he's gonna get the nomination on the Republican side and on the Democratic side.....it's a regular smack-down. I know it doesn't matter what I think very much, but Clinton and Edwards just seem so slimey....almost as slimey as this guy.

With a few exceptions...this years run at the primaries is like the Brazil Nut Effect....all the big nuts rise to the top.

We got our first taste of really cold weather the past few days. While I don't mind it that much...my knees are pretty much useless when it's below 20 degrees. A big "thank you" to whoever invented Celebrex or I probably wouldn't be able to walk.

I was coming home from dropping our son off the school and I saw the smoke plume from this fire....kinda freaked me out, from the road I was on- it looked a lot closer to our house than it actually was.

How to be popular. Jeez, all that's standing between me and a comfortable living blogging is a few hundred thousand readers........no sweat.

I'd really like a pair of these glasses to wear as a gag, but I don't think I'll be going into the store that has them.

I bet this TV show is like driving by a car accident...morbid curiosity makes you look. I'm not saying I wouldn't watch it, but I have about 20 hours of Discovery and TLC taped I haven't watched yet.

A picture is worth a thousand words...this one might be worth more.

Words escape me.......but it's not words that are escaping.

Will it Blend? is for nancy-boys........Watch it Shred is the real deal.

till later.

Less than pleasant news......

Our son has a girlfriend and on Sunday her father passed away.

He had been ill for quite some time so they had some time to prepare for his passing, but still.

I can't even imagine what the family is going through.....

Almost ate the windshield...........

I drop our son off at school every morning and as it happens, we cross one of the most dangerous intersections in our county. I've seen countless accidents there, the intersection is poorly designed for the amount of traffic it handles.

On Wednesday, I very nearly became another statistic. A tractor trailer driver pulled across 3 lanes of traffic and blocked all 3 lanes. I just about hit the side of the trailer ...which woulda peeled off the roof of my van and I assume my head as well, the nose of my van was actually under the side of the trailer with the windshield probably a foot away from the side.

It took a couple hours before all the adrenaline wore off and I could go to sleep........

Anyone following the primaries? It's kinda funny when you listen to all the wild-assed stuff the politicians come up with to con you into voting for them. They all do it, say whatever it takes to get elected.

I'd almost vote for this guy if he wasn't so gung ho about keeping troops in Iraq....I think that of all the electable candidates, he pulls the least amount of punches.

It's a free country with freedom of religion and all...........but this dude skeeves me out..

....so does this guy...and this guy. Truth be told, most of the news out there concerning Presidential politics makes me feel like hiding in a corner.

On a much happier note....

My wife finished the puzzle I bought her for Christmas. It was a toughie, some of the pieces would actually fit into incorrect places......if it woulda been me-I would of given up-I hate doing puzzles.

Been a busy few days...

I realized my wife and I reached a milestone.....this weekend we watched our daughter drive off in her own car back to college....all by herself. Maybe it doesn't seem that big a deal, but still......
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
..our little girl is all grown up.

Been busy this past weekend with computer stuff, set up a new computer that someone bought new off of eBay.....the computer came from a seller in Texas but all the region codes for the DVD software were set to Region 2 instead of Region 1 and when I went to Google it loaded the UK version. Whatever, probably a grey market computer but for the price the guy paid-it was a good deal.

Something about this picture is so wrong....

Idiocracy is gonna be here before you know it. TV's in shopping carts? What's next? Farting squirrels?

Very good special effects........I have this show on my hard drive, I am looking forward to watching it.

Cool school bus.

Cats and dogs.....

Our cat is crazy..............
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
In the above pic, she crawled underneath the throw rug in front of our kitchen sink. We love her to pieces but she does some weird stuff.

I was at a client's house the other evening and they had the nicest pair of Labradors. One was an older dog...about 10 or 11 years old and the other was about 3. The older one was definitely the elder statesman...he would calmly walk up to me and waited for me to pet him. The younger one was quite a bit more rambunctious.

With cats, you never know what's going through their minds....dogs on the other hand-they let you know right up front if they like you or not.

Here's a good list of 50 things.....make sure you read the comments as well.

A Canadians point of view concerning America.....he does have a point.

Gas station milkshakes.....when I was a kid, we had a greasy spoon near my house that made the best chocolate milkshakes and had pinball machines.

This has to be the dumbest idea for a mountain bike. One ride through a slightly muddy trail and it's gonna pick up 10 pounds of mud and it's gonna be hard to clean out if the mud dries up in the frame.

Hey coin collecters........don't miss the new Bush coinset.

and on a totally unrelated note.......it's my mom and dad's 49th wedding aniversary......woo hoo, next year I get to be best man at their vow renewal ceremony.

8 years baby...........

Quit smoking 8 years ago today. Chucked a half pack into the trash and quit cold turkey. One of the toughest things I've ever down.

Nowadays I positively hate the smell of cigarette smoke...it makes me sick to my stomach to even smell a whiff of second-hand smoke. I'm one of those asshole former smokers so don't even think about lighting a smoke when you're in my personal space, because I will tell you how I feel about second hand smoke.

Not sure what's going on with the weather, but damn.....it was 70 degrees the past couple of days. Kinda hard to believe it's the middle of January. It's also sorta depressing to think that it will get cold again. I don't mind 30's and 40's....but I get grumpy when it's colder than that.

The diet is going well, I've become accustomed to eating oatmeal for dinner/breakfast .....eliminating the snacks has been the real killer. I still eat ice cream, etc....I just don't eat it in the morning before I go to sleep.

Our daughter made a killer apple pie yesterday......
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
It was real hard not to eat any this morning....

I read the news this morning, looks like Mrs. Clinton isn't done yet. Honestly, out of all the candidates that have a reasonable chance to win.....she is one of the ones I wouldn't vote for. I don't really have a concrete reason why, she just seems too much like a politician.

That was close one.

Dude tries a Famous Bowl.....with predictable results. I've never had one....the idea of piling all that stuff together really doesn't appeal to me.

I agree...they need to get second jobs if they can't afford the payments.

The cold............

I have the cold that won't die. It's not that big of a cold and it isn't making me feel that bad-it's just annoying......and it won't go away. I had off this weekend and besides setting up a VPN for a client, I just lazed around.

My old cell phone was working intermittently....ever since I dropped it off the back of my bike last summer, it would turn off by itself randomly. We finally got out to the store and got a new one. Since I'm an old guy and was around before there were cellphones.....it never ceases to amaze me that they can pack so much technology into such a small device.

I listen to tons of podcasts when I'm at work, here's a great site to browse through a few.

I'm not dyslexic....just absent minded-you have to admit...it's a clever shirt.

Somebody's probably gonna comment on this...but the way I see it-religion and government don't mix....besides, Huckabee ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.

More guys in the "not the brightest bulb in the package" club.....

This is kinda weird....no, it's very weird.

I'm so good...........

Most folks I ride with call me "Geo"....short for George.

My friend Doug sent me the pic. You should check out his blog (he posts as "bikebreath") I think he does his blog like I do mine....kinda casual and because he like to write and put down some words.

Anyways....check it out and check out his photography, I'm not sayin' this just to blow sunshine up his ass, but he is one helluva of a picture taker.

The primaries have finally started......all I can say is there is no way I'm voting for someone with the last name of "Huckabee" ......President Huckabee? You gotta be kidding me. We need another badass like this guy.

Lots of news articles about the Spears sisters and their adventures......none worth linking to. Instead of wasting your time reading about the latest famous pregnant unmarried 16 year slut....read about a hero. Not sure what makes firefighters run into burning buildings....but thank God they do.

Oh.....my.....god. I am so glad that none of these are my kids.

Speaking of kids, I was at the bank Friday morning.....while I was in line, the mom behind me had her 3 little devil children running all over the bank willy nilly. Mom gets a call on her cell, loudly discusses what she's gonna make for dinner that night, etc.....after a minute or two, one of Satan's children pull a candy dish off the counter and it hits them smack on the forehead. The kid is crying, and I'm laughing.......I am so going to hell in a thermal snowsuit.

Oatmeal........

I'm sure glad I like oatmeal, because it's gonna be my breakfast/dinner before I hit the sack every morning for the foreseeable future.

It part of my DELAIRBYGTS© diet.

Actually, it ain't much of a diet.....but it's hard to lose weight when you go to sleep on a full stomach......and it's very easy to gain it when you have a bowl of Dorito's and some cookies as a snack right before you turn in. I figure 500 calories of oatmeal is better than 1000 calories of junk.

Last night it was 17 degrees.....I really like the butt warmers in my wife's new car-they are way toasty. My van.....not so much.

Here's a tit....... captured on a webcam. Get your mind out of the gutter.....my 14 year old son reads this blog.

I knew there was a reason I don't ride the rides at the carnival.

Here's some smart marketing. Sure, it'd be easier for the food bank to just accept a shrink wrapped pallet from Campbells....but then I wouldn't be linking to it, would I?

I call bullshit.

How do you get a $40 voucher for a digital-to-analog converter box for your old analog TV? Click here. We have a 25 year old JCPenney TV that still works like a charm.

Hollywood has officially run out of ideas....maybe that's just me, since I've never watched the show. I have a feeling I ain't missing much.

Men with plungers......Yeah, I know-you're thinking....where the hell does he find this stuff?

Here's a holiday I support. While I enjoy hanging out with friends and meeting new clients.....I'm also happy sitting at home with a stack of computer magazines.

Sear openly admits that it installs spyware on your computer.....of course you agree to it in the 54 page license agreement. Moral of the story? Don't trust anyone online with your info.

Anybody want the payment book?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
We just bought one of these....it sure is pretty, huh?

We got a pretty good deal on it, it cost about the same as the one we bought back in 2001. Car dealers are desperate to move metal...especially when you walk in 2 days before the end of the year.

It's my wife's 3rd Subaru, the second one is going back to college with our daughter next week. I was probably the one that pushed my lovely wife into buying a new car, I really didn't like having our daughter at school without transportation.

Been to busy to blog much, today is the first day of the "Don't Eat Like An Idiot Before You Go To Bed In The Morning" diet............I had a bowl of my pop's homemade soup for breakfast...yum.

My dad makes the best homemade soup in the solar system.

I think if he wanted to, he could set up a stand at the local farmer's market and make a killing selling his soup.

Yeah, his soup is that good.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
His chicken corn soup pretty much has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in the pot but he somehow ties all the flavors in together and it totally kicks ass.

I'd have a soup IV if it was possible.......

I got the pleasure of working on my 3rd grade teachers computer this week. Mrs Hake was my favorite teacher when I was in elementary school and she hasn't changed a bit....I just love her to bits.

She had a couple of security programs installed that were fighting each other for control of a few settings.....I rejiggered (that's technical computerese) some settings around and removed a few minor malware programs and things seem much better.

As for the new year? Let's hope it's an improvement over 2007.

Number 1000

Woo Hoo.....this is post number 1000!

How exciting! .....well not really all that exciting, but it's still a milestone, just the same ole stinkeye as most other posts.

Everybody seems to be doing those "Year in Review" articles in the media. Me? Nah, I'm gonna do the "Donut Guy's Top Ten Things He Hopes Happens in 2008"

Mmmm, that's not a clunky title is it?

Here goes....(in no particular order)

#10 I'd like to see Britney Spears, her sister, her sisters baby, her mom, Kevin Federline, her kids and the rest of her family all move back to Louisiana and stay there.

#9 Just elect a damn president already!...and make a new rule for 2012-no campaigning until January 2nd 2012.

#8 I'd like to see more normal people doing heroic things in the media instead of the normal "douchebag of the week" reporting we have now.

#7 I hope we never hear about Anna Nicole Smith, her kids, her mom, her ex husbands, lawyers, lovers or ex security guards ever again. I'm not holding out much hope on this one......let the poor woman rest in peace.

#6 The "War on Terror".....can someone please explain to me exactly what this war is? Is it the same as the "War on Drugs"? what's next?....the "War on Global Warming"?

#5 I hope we don't have to read about some dumb-ass celebrity going into rehab, getting arrested for drunk driving, getting pregnant before they are married (yeah, I'm old fashioned that way), getting out of a car and exposing their genitalia or any other stupid shit. Probably wishful thinking on my part.

#4 I'd like to see Apple stay with the same damn product for more then 6 months. I have an iPod Nano that's less then 1 1/2 years old that's already obsolete. I like their stuff but they piss me off because as soon as I buy something-they improve it a couple months later.

#3 I'd like to see Bluetooth earpieces outlawed unless your are driving. Let's face it, folks that use them and walk around talking to no one in particular look like assholes.

#2 I'd like to see a mandatory 1 year prison sentence in Federal PMITA prison for first time DUI offenders. 2nd offense? 5 years. 3rd offense? Life in prison. Drunk drivers kill.

#1 Jeez, would it be that damn hard for us to all get along and manage to not kill each other? I don't know, I've managed to co-exist with my fellow man for 48 years without killing anyone, it's can't be that damn hard.

till later....

How was everyones Christmas?

Sorry for not posting for a couple days, I had two work shifts separated by about 8 hours......just enough time to get some sleep and a bite to eat but not much else.

I'd have to say my lovely wife was fairly blown away with her Christmas gifts...since she reads this blog, I had to be careful not to give any hints away. I suck at keeping secrets, to be honest-I can't believe I pulled it off.

First the small stuff....the kids and I went out Monday and got some really neat stocking stuffers. The normal kind of stuff, nice warm PJ's, socks, a new umbrella and a new pair of Crocs. I was looking at them and bought myself a pair of them because a co-worker was telling me how comfortable they are to wear.

I have to admit-they look kinda goofy but they are way comfy. I thought about it for a couple minutes and we went back into the shoe store and I bought my wife a pair as well, she spends lots of time on her feet at work and has a bad back...so hopefully they'll help.

Next up..........I got my wife a kayak. I don't think she saw this one coming, she took lessons early this year and seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. One of my friends had a kayak he was willing to barter with-I'm either going to trade one of my bikes or I'll be setting up a network in his new house when he settles in.

After that.....the kids and I wrote notes for my wife telling her just how wonderful a person she is and what she means to all of us....she is definitely one special person to all of us.

And for the finale.......since it's gonna be our 25th anniversary this upcoming April....I got her a
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
......a nice ring....a few months early.

I think she likes it....and she was totally surprised. Like I said previously, I suck at keeping secrets.

We always spend Christmas Eve at my in-laws with all the family.....all I can say is all of my nieces and nephews are growing up! My father-in-law enlisted my help in getting my mother-in-law a new digital camera.

I found her a really nice one with easy to use features.....she was a little timid about all the buttons until I told her I had everything set to "automatic" and all she had to do was use the on/off button and the button that takes the picture and she could ignore all the other buttons.

Christmas day we spend at my parents with my in-laws and my sister-in-law. Had a great day with my folks and watched a few episodes of "Survivorman"....that's a wild show-I know that if I got stuck in the wilderness-I'd be pretty much screwed....unless there was a Burger King close by.

My mom made home-made ravioli this year......I think I went into food coma......speaking of food-I really need to start watching what I eat in the mornings before I hit the sack.

The knees ain't gonna be up to much extra work, I think I'll set one of my bikes up on the trainer and do some light spinning until it warms up. I miss the daily exercise...hopefully my knees will be okay with some easy workouts.......I really need to drop about 20 pounds and like my lovely wife pointed out-it'll be easier on my knees. She's right, as usual-that's why I love her so much.

I worked a a really weird work schedule the past couple days-the 26th I went in at 4 AM and then went back in at 9 PM.....I like working with my co-workers but all them were sick yesterday!

I hope I don't catch anything from them.....neither one of them probably should have been there-they were sneezing and coughing up a fit. one of the benefits of working by myself is that I rarely get anything more serious then a cold from time to time.....although it does get kinda lonely with just me and the donuts.

Shopping..........

Christmas shopping ain't so bad.

........as long as you do it early in the morning.

The kids and I headed out at 6:45AM yesterday morning to do some Christmas shopping for my lovely wife.

Not many people out and we got everything (and more) we were looking for.

Y'all have a very Merry Christmas.

Yay.....Christmas is almost here!!!!

I'm done with my last shift before Christmas.....no more renditions of Silent Night played on a banjo until next year.

Later today, me and my kids are gonna shop for some stocking stuffers for my lovely wife. Hopefully Wal-Mart won't be too crowded at 7 AM but I'm not counting on it.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
My wife gave me a hard time because I brought the whole package up from the garage instead of one or two rolls at a time.....what's the big deal, we're gonna use it eventually, right?

Our family loves to play Rummikub, we played several games last night before I went to work and it's always a fun time. Imagine 4 fairly intelligent people trying to outwit and out play the others with distracting commentary thrown in....it's a hoot.

101 ways to make money at blogging.....trust me, if I could write blogs for a living, I'd do it in a New York minute. I like writing way more than I like to make donuts. Since I have a reader base of about 200 people.....I'm gonna need a lot more readers and I'd have to get a whole lot better at writing to be successful.

till later.

Friday, December 21, 2007

Ho,ho,ho damnit.

They've switched our muzak at work over to Christmas songs 24/7.

We get to listen to some of the worst renditions of Christmas music possible interspersed with commercials of Rachel Ray selling snack crackers every 10 minutes. Is there anything that woman doesn't sell?

There's also a commercial for Cool Whip, but it since the PA speakers are blown out....it's mostly unintelligible.

Ain't nothing worse then listening to Frosty the Snowman played on a banjo 15 or 20 times a night.

Actually, there is something worse...country and western Christmas music.

Thank God I only have 2 more shifts before I'm off for the holiday....I need an AC/DC transfusion.

You thinking what I'm thinking? This guy oughta join up with the BMG.

AT&T's best-selling ringtones of the year......anyone else think having songs as ringtones on a cellphone is a dumbass idea? If my cell gets a call, I want it to sound like a phone, not like someone is in my pants pocket singing.

I poke fun...........

Yup, that's what I do on this here blog from time to time. Somebody e-mailed me (my email address isn't that hard to figure out) and chewed my face off for making fun of Jamie Lynn Spears.

All I can say is......guilty as charged.

It's not gonna stop me from poking a little fun at stupid people if I think they deserve it.

Maybe the condom broke or she missed a pill or something but Jamie sure ain't setting a very good example for her 12 year old fans.

At least she's fairly well off and can take care of her offspring.

Her big sister, on the other hand...............and her mom?

Lynne Spears' upcoming book on raising her children has been delayed indefinitely....ya think?

I hope he feels better, but I still think he's a nutjob. I don't mean he's a little off-center.....I think he's full on crazy.

Christmas light overload...

I don't know if this is the best display ever, but it sure is purty.....

YouTube - Music Box Dancer

It's Christmas when?

Maybe I'm somewhat insulated from all the commotion surrounding the holiday season.......but for some reason it sure doesn't seem like Christmas should be here yet. Perhaps it global warming screwing around with the seasons this year, but it's really hard to believe that next Tuesday is the big day.

Everyone in our family with the exception of my wife have already received their "big" presents. I got my camera, our daughter also received a new camera and our son got his Xbox 360 and we are all playing with our new toys...

...everyone except my lovely wife and she's gonna have to wait until next Tuesday for hers. I never let her touch or shake any of her presents, she has this innate ability to tell exactly what is in each box. So no hints, shakes or looks for her.

CBS does a write up on Ron Paul. The comments are just as good as the article. Can the guy win? Who the hell knows, but he didn't win ten terms in Congress by accident...he must be doing something right.

Maybe I drank one too many bottles of cheap wine or something back in the late 70's.....but I really liked #2 on this list.

Maybe I have a twisted sense of humor, but I was the only person in the family that laughed when my nephew Steven (who was 5 years old at the time) tried to stick a nickel into a power outlet and tripped a breaker at my in-laws house. He learned his lesson, I'm pretty sure he stopped doing dumb shit after that.

Stupid TV........

This is my kind of television drama.

....no, not really. You have to wonder what the folks at ABC and smoking/drinking/huffing. I know there's a writers strike going on, but damn......

I kinda stick to documentaries, and the stuff on the Discovery Channel for the most part. I feel for the people that go home after the taping of the show in the above link and get to see what an idiot they were on TV when they turned down 100,000 grand and ended up with butkus. Me? Stick anything over 50 grand in my face and I'm takin' it and not looking back.

Just for the public record.....my wife is a pretty damn good mechanic.

One of her headlights blew out over the weekend, I went to the parts store, the guy gave me a duplicate of the light I brought him but it didn't fit when I went to replace it.

Couple problems....he gave me the wrong number bulb (they look almost identical) and the bulb I gave him was the high beam bulb. The low beam bulb was the one that was burnt out. What took me about 1/2 hour to fumble around with and unsuccessfully fix with took my wife about 15 minutes including the return trip to the parts store. My wife? She's good....I think I'll keep her.....or more correctly, .......hopefully-she'll keep me.

The obligatory beauty shot....nice, huh?

Things to think about.........

Important things........

Like...........

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they know there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, 'It's all right?' Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That hurt, you stupid idiot?'

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

Don't blame me, I didn't write any of them, I just swiped'em off of someone else's web site.

Till later

Hmmmmm, what's in the box?

(She sure seems surprised.)

One big headache............

Been gone for a few days........Thursday night I developed the migraine from hell. I get headaches once and awhile but this one was a killer. It was the first time I've ever gone to the doctor for a headache.

I really wanted to dig out my eyeballs with a screwdriver and stick my head in a bucket of ice water-the pain was pretty damn bad for several hours Thursday night. I feel for folks that suffer from migraines all the time-not sure what triggered mine but hopefully it won't happen again for awhile.

Anyways, on Friday my doc fixed me up with some good drugs and I slept for 14 hours Friday night. Once I finally woke up Saturday-the headache was 95% gone and I felt good as new.......I even helped my wife put up a new shower rod in one of our bathrooms and hardly dinged the wallpaper at all.

I did manage to make one of the holes I drilled about 3 times bigger then it needed to be but the flange on the shower rod covered it up so no-harm-no foul. If you can't see the screw up...does it really exist?....I think not.

Our daughter is home on break for Christmas, it's really nice to have the whole family under one roof even if it's only for a few weeks.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Our son put up the Christmas tree and the cat has found a new home. For some reason, the cat enjoys chewing on the plastic branches, hopefully she won't chew on one of the light strings when they're on.....110 volts and cats probably aren't a good combination.

I did go back to work Saturday night and just as I was getting done.......our store lost power. Kinda sucks, but it coulda been a lot worse as none of the bakery equipment is powered by the emergency generators.

Donuts aren't exactly an emergency, I think the generators just power a few lights, the computers and the freezers, so I lucked out big time.

Been lots of stuff in the papers lately about baseball and all the drug use that's been going on.......I say-let'em dope it up and take as many drugs as they want-the only people they are hurting are gonna be themselves.

It's not like it's the Olympics- they aren't cheating another country out of any gold medals.....if they can hit 900 foot homers-I say go for it. Make it just like professional wrestling and have cage matches after the games....whatever sells tickets. Of course I jest about the professional wrestling aspect of it, but really...the only people the baseball players are hurting are themselves.

There's also the usual crap in the news about the upcoming election and the normal spew coming out of Washington......I am so glad we only have one more year of Bush.....I just hope the country can make it for 13 more months without imploding.

Before I drifted off into a haze Friday night....I watched our son play Call of Duty 4 on his Xbox 360 for awhile. I remember when I bought my first video game system....anyone old enough to remember Pong?

Those were the days.

I am so getting one of these when I can save up the money. 400 bucks is a lot of money to spend on a gadget, but I still want one really bad.

I was planning on putting XP on our daughters laptop, but the more I researched it-I think it's gonna have to stay running with Vista. She bought it at Best Buy and while it's a very nice laptop for the price she paid- it turns out that Best Buy had these Sony Vaios specially made for Black Friday and they have all the drivers for Vista online at Sony but none for XP, so it's gonna be extremely difficult to "downgrade" it to XP.

I'm gonna throw 3 gigs of RAM into it, so that will help it run at least halfway decent.

Sounds like I'm bagging on Vista.....it runs fine as long as you throw tons of RAM at it and have a decent dual core processor. I've set up a couple Vista machines with 1 gig of RAM and they were painfully slow.

It's almost enough to give a guy a migraine............

Happy Birthday Mom........

If you're a long term reader of this blog, you know I consider myself a very lucky man.

I have the best wife a guy could ever have, 2 wonderful children, great in-laws and extended family, a great dad and last but not least-a great mom.

As days go-this is a biggie-my mom's birthday is today-she was born 60 some years ago (I'm not sayin' her age) in Baltimore. She is the best mom I guy could hope to have and she did (and continues to do) a wonderful job of being a mom and a grandmother.

Happy Birthday mom and we all love you bunches:-)

PS-I'll even forgive you for taking a picture of me taking a poop when I was 5 years old.

Love, your son.

It never gets old...........

Been setting up new computers and fixing up sick ones for about a year now. Nothing more fun then opening up boxes with thousands of dollars worth of computers inside and getting to set all those PC's up. Sounds kinda boring but since I'm a geek........I dig it.

Gotta thank Hank for the pic....

In addition to being a geek....I'm also a science nut. This is a good article about Voyager.

I need one of these. For anyone that knows me.......that's no big surprise.

Fits on a keychain nowadays.

This is kinda long but, dammit I love it when a plan comes together.

If Dick Cheney Didn’t Have Government Care, ‘He’d Probably Be Dead Now’.

It's amazing any of us are here.

I'm gonna apply for a job here......I'd fit right in.

Surf's up......way UP.

Free Microsoft software........there's a catch (you knew there would be)...you have to participate in a survey from Microsoft for 3 months and let them track your usage.

Ed from Oklahoma (CycleDog) is in the middle of an ice storm....check out his pictures.

This is pretty nifty......I use the "thump" method. I back up and the rear bumper goes "thump" against whatever is behind me. That's the beauty of driving an old minivan-no need for fancy electronics.

Random thoughts........

I figured out how to share the music and TV shows on my laptop with the Xbox 360 downstairs......pretty cool technology. I can bit torrent a TV show and instead of burning it to a DVD, I can just stream it to the TV and watch it.

My next project is getting my parents WiFi working properly....ever since they went over to DSL, I haven't been able to enable WEP or WPA encryption on their wireless router. I did put a utility on their computer that locks down access to any of the files if someone signs onto their wireless network, but that's kind of a stopgap measure. The wireless router is a few years old, I'm gonna attempt to update the firmware....wish me luck.

I'm gonna go nuts listening to our store Muzak until Christmas is over.....one minute they're playing Michael Jackson singing a song about sitting on Santa's lap and the next minute they're playing Combat Rock from the Clash.

Ten minutes after that.....you guessed it-Burl Ives belts out "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas"

I'm thinking about gluing something over the speaker grills of the intercom system in the ceiling of our department.....it's gonna be a long 3 weeks.

I'd enjoy Christmas a lot more if we forgot all the commercial crap and brought the holiday back to it's original purpose which is.....

.... celebrating Santa Clause's birthday.

I kid of course, but you know how you act on Christmas and try and be on your best behavior? I'd like to see everyone try to do that everyday. There'd be a lot less people getting blowed up and killed if we could all just have some decent manners.

I'd be willing to start by not giving the finger to anyone that cuts me off in traffic. It's a small price to pay but I'd be willing to do it if it made the world a better place.

If I'm on my bike and you cut me off in your car? Screw that-you're gettin' the finger.

I was reading People magazine and saw the article where bloggers were calling Jennifer Love Hewitt out for being fat. I saw the pictures of her in her bikini..........what the hell are they talking about? She looks perfectly normal to me. No wonder young teenage girls get eating disorders with press like that.

I'm glad I'm not famous, they'd have a field day with me. There would be pictures of me picking my nose or my ass on the front page of the Star every week......because lets face it, we all pick our noses or dig in our butt crack once and awhile......don't worry-I wash my hands before I handle food at work.

Weird......what's even weirder is the "Customers Who Bought Items Like This Also Bought" section below the main selection....hmmmm.

I'm sure they all taste marvelous, but the last one looks like a meteorite between two hamburger buns.

If you ever had the tiniest hope that President Bush was a good and honest person......this press conference should crush that thought. Seriously? I think Shrub commits 20 or 25 key words to memory and makes up sentences as he goes along.....next January can't get here soon enough.

We get both here at the Donut Guy's house and they are totally worth the money. If you are gonna buy anything electronic or just about anything else, it's at least worth it to sign up for the online version.

Why food costs more then it did last year. Me? I'd rather have less expensive food and drive a smaller car.

Tom Waits....Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis.
