No hot water...........

I'm sure glad our plumber doesn't hunt. Our water heater crapped out Sunday evening.....sure don't realize how much you take something for granted until you don't have it.

Anyways, one of the life lessons my pop taught me was to make sure you have a reliable mechanic to work on your cars and a good plumber.

It was amazing how much smarter my old man got the older I got. When I was 16.....I knew way more then he did.....now that I'm 48 and he's 70.....I think we are almost even. Sometimes I find myself thinking I still know more then he does, but he's still pretty darn smart.

Our daughter went back to school yesterday and already the house is too quiet. Yeah, I know once she gets her degree and starts her career, she'll probably chose to have her own place to live instead of living here, but we sure do enjoy having her around during school breaks.

I had a comment on a previous post concerning my politics .....which I promptly deleted. I know that blogging about politics will bring out the trolls and I'm perfectly okay if you wanna disagree with me-just be civil about it. Go ahead and post opposing views, I enjoy an intelligent debate- but lets not resort to name calling and mud slinging shall we?

I have to disagree with No 2....that's my all time favorite movie....and I didn't even go to college.

Here's what's wrong with the media....all CBS gives a shit about is a tongue stud.....and they don't even discuss this.

lib•er•tar•ian........sums it up for me. Who am I voting for next election? Not sure yet, but I'd really like to see some radical changes.

The UN might have a valid point here. I've seen enough Youtube videos of police officers using Tasers to know when they are being used inappropriately. Like tasing an unarmed woman for refusing to get out of her vehicle. Sure she had an attitude but damn....... 2 big burly cops couldn't deal with her without resorting to a Taser gun?

I'm surprised George didn't have Dick shoot it.

Burl Ives can bite me.....

Seriously, if I never hear Burl Ives sing "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" ever again.........that would be A-OK with me. Unfortunately, where I work they play Muzuk 24/7 and they offer up about 6 or 7 Christmas songs interspersed with the occasional Celine Dion song.

One of these nights.....I'm gonna go off.

It's probably gonna be on the guy that comes in at 3AM every damn night and asks if the Boston custard donuts are done. I've patiently explained that it's one of the last variety of donuts I finish and that they aren't usually done until 4:30 in the morning.

Doesn't stop him from asking every night...........

Here's how you know you were too fat.

Our son was playing a game on Xbox 360 called Call of Duty 4.....wow. I can easily see how someone could get sucked into playing 360 non stop for days on end. Kinda like an old fashioned shoot'em up game only it's extremely life like and realistic. I was having fun just watching him.

For the most part, he's pretty good about not spending too much time playing stuff like that-he's limited during the week by his part time job and homework......

This is gonna hurt.

An electronic free for all..........

Our daughter is one smart shopper.

She stood in line at 3 AM Friday for a killer deal on a Sony Viao laptop. Excellent specs for 400 dollars. All it needs is a bump up to 2 gigs of RAM and she'll be good to go for several years. Out of all of us in the family, she uses a laptop computer like they are supposed to be used, it gets carried around a lot so I wasn't totally surprised that her old one crapped out after 3 years.

My wife found a good deal on an Xbox 360 for our son, 350 bucks for the mid level unit and it includes 2 games and Guitar Hero.

Of course since I'm writing about it on this blog.....it's no secret that we gave it to him early.

Kinda hard not too since every one else in the family got their Christmas presents early.

Not much time for linkies today.........

Passiveaggressivenotes.com has some great notes.....you can just feel the love.

Tryptophan induced coma........

I without a doubt, have the best wife in the world.

One of the many reasons?

She made a turkey the day before Thanksgiving so I could have turkey sandwiches for breakfast when I came home from work this (Thursday) morning.

Our daughter is home for the weekend and it's great having the whole family under one roof for a few days. I work the whole week and weekend, but it's still nice having her around.....

When this thing is less then 400 bucks.....I'm gonna buy one. To me, it's worth the 400 bucks but my wife would probably kill me if I bought another gadget....I can't help it, I love gadgets and I love books.

Thankful as always.....

Sometimes people are assholes.....

First thing I have to say is "guilty as charged".

Sure, I've said some things to people I probably shouldn't have and for that... I'm sorry.

No, seriously-I mean it.

Well actually........I mean it most of the time.

I guess what I'm trying to convey is that society is just flat out meaner then it was 10 or 15 years ago.

Let me provide an example.

Our store ran out of eggs two days before Thanksgiving. Yeah, somebody messed up and didn't order enough....it was a mistake and mistakes happen.

I had a very well dressed customer (mid 40's wearing a very nice business suit) walk up to me in the bakery and ask me what she was supposed to do because she needed eggs and we didn't have any. I apologized and told her that we would be getting more in Wednesday morning.

She said "unf**kingbelievable" under her breath and started to walk off.... but not before I managed to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving.

I do believe I trumped her "mean" card with my "nice" card....I'm sure she thought I was being an asshole by wishing her a pleasant holiday after her unpleasant exchange.

Me, be an asshole?

Nah. I love working retail during the holidays.

Happy turkey day.......

My friend hank sent me this........

The Parrot

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift.

The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.

The parrot yelled back.

John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and ever ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.

Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said.....

"I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued,

"May I ask what the turkey did?"

...not sure how the holiday started nor do I really care. Nowadays it's just a reason for family and friends to get together. To be honest-that works for me.

If we didn't have Thanksgiving, all the stores would go directly into Christmas mode right after Labor Day....for that-I'm thankful.

I'll save y'all the details but I feel like crap and it feels like I have a small log in my right eye.

I just love it when a plan comes together.

Anyone ever notice that when you aren't feeling well that time slows down? I wouldn't say I am out and out sick, I just feel like a bear with a sore ass.

New cars........

Wow, there sure are lots of car dealerships were we live.

My lovely wife and I spent a few hours traipsing all over York County yesterday afternoon checking out new cars.....I took pictures of all the models my wife is interested in and since we have a subscription to the online version of Consumer Reports, she can look up all the facts and figures of all the models she likes.

It will be interesting to see what she comes up with. My wife isn't your normal car shopper, she isn't that interested in looks or colors- the only option she wants for sure is heated seats. Mileage numbers are going to be the major determining factor in what she buys.

My son and I decided to give my wife one of her Christmas presents early....we bought her a Slanket ,we couldn't stand to see her being all chilly....so it looks like we'll have to find something else to get her for Christmas.

We also went to Sam's Club yesterday where they had "Taste of Sam's".....don't wanna be too indelicate here, but it's basically White Trash Nation with free food....they all crowd around the poor sample ladies and hoover up all the samples as soon as they are put out. I like Sam's but I usually go there early in the morning when they only let business owners in. Yeah, I know that sounds snobby, but I hate big crowds of people.

Why you Should Start your Own Business Now..........part of the reason I started up my business fixing computers. I like the extra money and maybe some day our son could do this instead of working for someone else.

I might vote for Huckabee just because of this ad.

Religious intolerance is alive and well in Texas. Class move on the part of the synagogue.

Still smoking? This might help you change your mind. I am proud to be one of those "asshole former smokers". Don't even get close to me with a lit cigarette.

So.........how much is the TV?

Back up.

Common sense ? Nah, we don't need any of that.....

Not sold in stores......

I got home from work this morning and our son was sleeping out in the living room with the TV on. By the time I get home at 4:30 AM, there are usually infomercials on.

Some of my favorites......

There's a whole ton on this site. My favorite? This one-the whole family will have the same haircut.

The Magic Bullet is another winner....

I wonder if this crap will fix all the dents on my minivan?

I can't find the link to another of my favs, it's a really skinny spooky looking guy that sells some sort of product that cleans your colon.

I guess folks buy all that worthless junk because they continue to advertise it......

My wife and I are doing one of our least favorite things this Sunday...shopping for a new car.

Looking for something cheap, AWD and fairly decent on gas. New cars are nice and all, but it's also nice having the cash to spend on other stuff. Our daughter is going to need a car at college in the near future, so we're out looking at 2007 leftovers.

I hate dealing with car salesmen, cars are one of the few products where the "price" isn't really the price. I don't care about monthly payments, leases, terms or anything else except how much the damn car costs. Why is getting that one single number so hard?

I'm sure we'll narrow it down to a couple different models and print out the wholesale pricing you can buy from Consumers Report and then go piss some salespeople off.

I hate wasting time sitting in some guys cubicle while he talks to his manager. I can imagine we'll probably end up walking out of a few places.......there's only something like 4 bazillion places that sell cars where we live-we'll find something.

Here's some more mental masturbation. The thing that's scary? One of those rocket scientists are gonna be the next President. Hopefully this guy won't win....but at least this guy has pretty hair. Honestly, I have no idea where any of those bobbleheads stand on the issues because they change their opinions every week.

My favorite candidate is too popular.

Go ahead and light my ass up for this opinion.....but I think Al Sharpton is 10 pounds of manure packed into a five pound bag.

They have a 35 hour work week.....I'm having a hard time feeling any pity.

The Taser company covers their ass. The cops woulda been better off just macing the guy and then clubbing him in the knees once or twice. Sounds mean as hell, but he'd still be alive.

King Juan Carlos has a set of balls. Should he apologize? Not for me to say, I admire him for saying what needed said when he said it.

This isn't to hard to believe. It's pretty easy to compete with a company that sells a cup of coffee for 5 bucks. Why can't they just call their 3 sizes small, medium and large? I don't go there because I feel like an idiot asking for a Venti coffee. I'm going to stick to gas store coffee.

She really needs to move to Montana and hire a driver.

Cat causes internet outage........

As I was typing this into my browser.....a little window came up that said I was disconnected from the internet. Comcast has a history of doing updates early in the AM and going offline for a few minutes at a time....so I didn't think much of it. Turns out the cat pulled the power cord out of the router......I figured that out when I went downstairs and everything on the table where the router is was knocked over.

This is cool. Now I can have my 2 favorite groups alternate songs in a playlist. I kinda doubt AC/DC and The Beach Boys are gonna be doing a live double bill any time soon.

Speaking about music......I ripped 10 CD's of an audiobook for my wife to listen to on her iPod. Last night Windows decided to update and restart all by itself and for some reason...all 10 Cd's are missing in action. Not that big a deal, but it still kinda pissed me off.

Not sure when winter is going to get here, today it's about 60 degrees and raining...there are still green leaves on some of our trees and I heard seagulls in our yard yesterday. It's probably gonna be one of those deals where it's 60 degrees one week and we'll have 3 feet of snow the next week.

Best blender ever.....you gotta check out the video.

Today's science break, courtesy of National Geographic.

Turkey is good, bacon wrapped turkey is better. About the only thing I could imagine beating that would be a turkey wrapped turducken. I wonder how many folks will burn their house down next Thursday.

Gotta admire those folks in Russia.......I woulda called out sick. Nobody needs donuts that damn bad.

Pictures...

Our son and I got up to Rocky Ridge yesterday afternoon for a little bit....

I took a whole bunch of pictures, here a few of them. I was basically playing around with all the settings to see what kind of pics I'd get. I took something like 150 of them....most of them were pretty boring.

All kinds of settings on my new camera....the best part is I'm not wasting film while I'm playing around with all the buttons and dials-just wasting time. Any time I get to spend outside with our son "wasting" time is time well spent in my book.

I bought one of those digital photo frames-kinda neat, you can put a couple hundred pics in it and share your pictures.

I'd love to have this job. I had a lot of practice with my first car. It was a 68 VW and I beat that poor car senseless. I fixed it up and gave it to my parents and they drove it for a few years....I wish I still had it-it was a fun car except for when you had to scrape the inside of the windshield in the winter.

Sad thing is....this story is almost believable.

Thanksgiving is when????

Just seems like summer was over only a few weeks ago. I'm hoping that all the leaves fall out of the trees before our township has its last leaf pick-up.

A few years ago I waited until the last pick-up of the season and it snowed about 6 inches on all the leaves I had piled out onto the street. Since we have so many trees, our street is reduced to one lane when I put all the leaves out. The snow plow driver really had no choice but to plow the snow and leaves back up onto my lawn.

It was quite a mess, they eventually had to get a front end loader out in the spring to pick up all the dead composted leave matter on our street.

I'm sure I piss my next door neighbor off, he's anal about his yard and blows his leaves out to the street about 3 or 4 times a week.

Me? ......I just let mine blow around until most of them end up over in his yard.....I kinda like the way they look when they cover the ground. It's fall after all.....

This is a good fake ad.

A firefighter was working on the engine outside the station when he noticed a little girl nearby in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the sides & a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.

The girl was wearing a firefighter's helmet. The wagon was being pulled by her dog & her cat.
The fire fighter walked over to take a closer look. "That sure is a nice fire truck," the firefighter said with admiration.

"Thanks," the girl replied.

The firefighter looked a little closer & noticed the girl had tied the wagon to her dog's collar & to the cat's testicles.

"Little partner," the firefighter said "I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster.

"
The little girl replied thoughtfully, "You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren."

This would be nice if it happened. Our Comcast bill has gone up by over 30% over the last two years and we haven't added anything.

Heck, you don't even have to live in America to be a redneck.

Front door pictures.....

Our daughters laptop seems like it kinda died yesterday. Kinda of a bummer, looks like we'll be shopping for a new one for her when she comes home on Thanksgiving break.

One project I wanted to do this week was to scan some pictures into my laptop and upload them to Picasa. Every year my mom and dad have taken a picture of our children on their birthday by their front door.

We call them "Front Door Pictures"........

Here's our daughter.

another vacation.....ho hum.

Kinda weird having another week of vacation so close to the last one. Not that I'm complaining or anything. It took me about a week to get back into the working 3rd shift..........I really need to win the lottery or something.

Donuts, fast food, processed food and just about anything that tastes good isn't good for you and will kill you early. Unless America radically changes it's eating habits.....I think my job is safe for awhile. If our store only sold things that were good for you...it wouldn't have 110,000 square feet of sales floor.

The announcer gets a tad excited while he calls the play. Whatever, I guess I ain't much of a football fan. I know where my daughter goes to college...their football team has been undefeated for years.

This is kinda illegal but it sure would be fun to have one sometimes.

One more week........

Yay, I have 1 more night of work then I'm on vacation again.

Gonna be takin' pictures and going for some nice easy bike rides. My knees haven't quite recovered yet from the hike my wife and I took a couple weeks ago.

I think I'll buy a couple rolls of sport tape and tape those suckers up before I do that again.

A joke......
A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone. He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe stress disorder. If you don't follow my instructions carefully, your husband will surely die. "Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant at all times. For lunch make him a nutritious meal. For dinner prepare an especially nice meal for him. "Don't burden him with chores. Don't discuss your problems with him; it will only make his stress worse. Do not nag him. Most importantly, make love to him regularly. "If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely." On the way home, the husband asked his wife, "What did the doctor say?" "He said you're going to die," she replied.

I'm addicted to JelloCar. Kinda funny how the simple games can be the most fun to play.

I hope this guy wins any challenges to his decision. I'm all for freedom of speech but I think the signs the church members display are hate speech, not freedom of speech.......big difference in my book, doesn't matter if they were 1000 feet away or 1000 miles away.

Halloween aftermath........

The best part of working in a supermarket in the middle of the night is..........checking out some of our wackjob customers. Sure we get a few shift workers shopping for groceries at 1 in the morning but let's face it-most normal people are in bed sleeping at that hour.

My vote for best Halloween costume was for the very large man with a shaved head wearing a ballet outfit at 2 in the morning buying a gallon of milk. He was at least 6 ft 6 in, was built like a sumo wrestler and he was wearing pink tights.....that dude was scary.

Sorry about the color scheme, but Halloween is awesome...I'll change it back to something normal on Thursday. Those donuts in the picture were created by yours truly. Our son wanted me to go to Dunkin' Donuts to buy him some donuts.....if anyone ever sees me in a Dunkin' Donut.....shoot me please.

We have another local chain around here that I would buy donuts from because they contribute quite a bit of money back into the community and I used to work for them.....but Dunkin' Donuts? They've slipped quite a bit in the past couple of years.

One thing about working shift work is that nights off can really screw up your sleep schedule. For instance, this is my night off and I took a short nap right when I got home from work Sunday morning and then another one Sunday evening and now it's 1:30 AM Monday morning and I'm wide awake.

This would be cool if I could actually do something besides watch TV and screw around on the internet. I'd like to cut the grass and fertilize but 2 in the morning isn't the best time to fire up the mower........

"Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Skank."

"Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Skank."

Next time I see a 12 year old with "Juicy" printed on her ass..........

I'm not much of a web page designer...

I was working on our churches web site and took a second look at the pages I had started to set up....I kinda didn't like them, so I deleted the lot of them and decided to start over.

Ouch....

So last night was kinda cold and drizzly..........my knees were absolutely killing me. So much so that I bought a tube of Icy Hot to slather on them. I went to the restroom, dropped trou and put a generous amount on both knees.

Not sure how it happened but some of the Icy Hot must have gotten on to my trousers.

After a few minutes, I noticed some things getting warm that really weren't supposed to be warm. Since my daughter and my mom read this blog........I'll leave those body parts up to your imagination.

Moral of the story.......be careful with where you put Icy Hot....it works good-sometimes a little too good.

I saw a commercial for Charmin toilet paper yesterday.....the commercial was touting the fact that Charmin leaves fewer pieces behind. Unless I get into a car accident and have to go to the hospital...........exactly how many people will know if I left a few pieces behind? What a dumbass commercial.

Our daughter is going to Italy sometime next year........not sure of all the details but I think it's way cool.

An easy fix.......

I went to a clients house to fix their printer.........pretty easy fix as it wasn't plugged the whole way into the computer. I wish all the fixes were that easy. I didn't charge them anything....I didn't have the heart and it wouldn't have been right. Sometimes tech stuff can be easy...sometimes it can be hard.

In the next couple weeks, I'm gonna be spending a lot of my free time setting up a simple to use web site for our church.....so if ya'll don't see me post much-you know why.

This morning coming out from work was the first time this year that it felt like fall. Windy, rainy and cold....good sleeping weather, but not much good for anything else. Lucky for me...that's what I plan to do...catch up on some sleep. If there's one thing I do well, it's sleep. I might even be considered a professional sleeper.....I'm that good at it.

I love me some 80's music.

Why it's good to wear a full face helmet (don't worry-no gore). A friend of mine at work had a get-off earlier this year...his head hit the guard rail. Without the helmet....he woulda probably been killed.

I'm pretty sure our daughter celebrated this.

Jeez, when I was 11 years old, I was more concerned about building model cars and lighting them fire then I was about birth control.

Wait a sec...........I'm not even sure if I knew what birth control was when I was that old.

Work sucks............

Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh, work doesn't really suck....but my knees ain't used to standing up for 8 hours straight....I was a hurtin' pup when I got off this morning.

I was gonna try to post some good news from current events........but I could find any. Hell, even the guy who invented Rice-A-Roni died.

I'm a nice guy....honest.

Dumbledore is gay. I say........how bout it? I'm sure the news will piss off lots of conservatives, but lets face it-the world is made up of all kinds of people and the sooner we all get along......the better.

Speaking of trying to get along.....the neighbor directly behind us let their dog on their back patio all day this past Saturday. The only problem with that is that it barked for 4 hours straight. After it got dark, I walked over and calmly asked them how much longer they were planning on letting the dog out there barking. I got a "huh" look.

How can people be so damn dumb and inconsiderate? Next time, I'll just call the police and let them handle it. Not sure if bothering the police for such a trivial manner is okay or not-but they might be able to get through the guy's thick skull better them me.

More about getting along.....the neighbor next to me, is pissed because I mowed a strip of his property 8 inches wide by 20 feet. He asked me not to cut it because I cut it too short. 8 inches dude.......get a freakin' life. His wife has recently left him so he probably a little unstable, I'll try to be nice to him, but it's gonna be an effort.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the neighbor on the other side of me.....they recently moved this past summer and while they've been busy with remodeling their house-they have let their yard go. I asked them to trim and weed an extremely overgrown flowerbed bordering our property a while back because it was seeding our yard with all kinds of weird weeds and plants.

Nothing happened for awhile....so I weeded it myself .......with a bottle of Roundup. No roots, no weeds, no problem. Except they give me dirty looks whenever they see me.

And don't get me started on dog owners that think it's okay for their dogs to defecate and urinate all over my yard and then try to clean most of it up with a shovel and a baggie........

Sounds like I'm a real asshole huh? Not at all...I'm a nice guy-honest. Just ask my mom.

A hiking we will go......

I got to take some good pics yesterday-my wife and I went on a hike around Lake Williams. As you can see, it was close to 4 miles-nothing too tough but we both are feeling it a little bit. Actually, my knees are feeling it a LOT...but it was worth it.

You know you are getting old when you take Celebrex before you go out for a walk.

As you can see...there ain't a whole lot of Lake Williams left. It's really surprising that there hasn't been much coverage in the local media concerning how low our water reservoir is.

We walked past where all the clear cutting in the park took place several years ago, at the time-the Parks and the York Water company promised that they would reseed the logged areas with new trees.

I didn't see any new trees, just a lot of garbage vegetation. I guess the money the York Water Company got for the logged trees was more important then restoring what they destroyed. I know we need paper products, but jeez.....did they have to saw down trees in one of our county parks? I digress.....

Here are more pictures here of different locations along the trail.

I had my camera on full auto for all the pictures, I didn't want to hold up my lovely wife while I goofed around with settings...she likes to keep a nice steady pace. We did the hike in about 90 minutes so we didn't do much standing around.

Even with having the camera make all the decisions....I think it does a really nice job.

My friend Hank sent me this. My favorite is the pic with the bigger brother that decorates his baby brother with magic marker. I'm sure he got in a little trouble for that one.

I still think Rush Limbaugh is ten pounds of shit packed into a 5 pound bag, but hats off to him for doing this.

I'm geeked out.....

How you know you might be a geek when you...........

Use two computers with different OS'es at the same time.

I'm liking Ubuntu quite a bit, there isn't much that it can't do that Windows doesn't do. It even runs fairly well on my 8 year old PC. I'm no Linux expert, but I like having something different to learn, and fortunately.....I have a few readers that can help me out if I get stuck on something.

The weather here in Central PA has just been insane. I'm sitting here at 6 in the morning wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be in the mid 70's....not bad for late October. I'd be perfectly okay with a mild winter. I like the cooler temps but I can do without the snow, sleet and freezing rain.

With any luck, I'll be out later today to play around with my camera, I've pretty much mastered the basic settings and besides....it ain't rocket science-it's just getting out there and getting some shots.

I've found the candidate I'm voting for in 2008..........I'm going with the toad........I'm tired of all the bullshit.

I made a little money......

Wasn't feeling all that spiffy yesterday but I did a simple web site for my brother-in-law....nothing really fancy-actually, it's exactly how he wants it....simple and easy to navigate.

He's been talking to someone that does web sites for the last 6 months and been getting pretty much nowhere. I'm not a web designer by any stretch of the imagination, but I threw something together while he was here yesterday working on my windows.

He's happy-I'm happy and I get to put a little more money in the bank.

A joke......

A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her.

She asks him why he is staring.

He replies..."I have a question to ask you, but I don't want to offend you,"

She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just About everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me."

She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that:

#1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic."
The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic!

"OK" the nun says. "Pull into the next alley.

"
The nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.

"My dear child," said the nun, "Why are you crying?"
"Forgive me, but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish."

The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween Party."

........gotta love Halloween.

I sold my Redline Monocog yesterday.....it's going to a reader of this blog and I'm sure he's gonna be using it a lot more then I've been. I hate to see it go, but being realistic-ain't no way I'm gonna be riding it with my creaky knees. At least it went to another computer geek-you gotta like that.

Still have my Cannondale R500 if anyone's interested.....

I'm a slacker....

Jeez, I forgot how much fun it is to just wake up in the morning with no set plans until I go back to bed in the evening. I guess that's why they call it vacation.

My brother-in-law is a contractor and this week he's installing all new windows and patio doors in our humble abode. I'd post his name, but he already has way more business then he can handle. The dude is a total perfectionist and deals mainly with high end clients-he's real good.

I caught me a little bit of a cold or something, I got a flu shot the other day-that might have something to do with it. It's not where I'd call myself "sick".... just enough of a cold to where I just wanna flop around the house and take it easy. Since it's going to be rainy for the next couple days-I'm not too upset about it.

I'm a wallpaper junkie, these are some very nice high resolution pics.

I also like trying out new software.....anyone remember Netscape Navigator? They have a new version that's mostly a copy of Firefox. It's pretty much the same but I kept it anyways, it's a good back up in case I corrupt Firefox somehow.

How fresh is your Sushi?

I kinda like #1 the best.

Time for some goofing off....

I haven't had one of those vacations where all I do is goof off for awhile.

My brother-in-law is a contractor and will be spending most of the week here putting in new windows so I can't stray too far.

It's just nice to wake up and other then taking our son to school.......the rest of the day is open.

Yay.

I've decided to sell my Cannondale R500 road bike, I've ridden it exactly 5 times this entire year. I'm much more comfortable on my Cross-Check and I'm gonna use the money for computer stuff. I need PC equipment more then I need a bike that I never ride. You can check out more here if you're local and wanna buy a nearly new road bike.

Settings settings and more settings

Well, so far I've gotten about half-way through the manual on my camera and there are all kinds of settings for just about everything. It's kind of intimidating but to be honest....I'm kind of digging it. I'm sure once I learn what all the buttons, menus and settings do...it's gonna be awesome.

Just finished setting up a new PC for a client yesterday. They went from a Windows 98 machine with a 14 inch CRT display and dial up to a pimped out Vista desktop with a 20 inch LCD widescreen monitor with broadband. Super nice guy and he very well might have stayed up all night playing around with it....I know that if I was in the same situation, I woulda.

48

Mmmm, funny-except for extremely creaky knees......I don't feel like I'm 48.

I know I sure don't act like I'm 48.

Which is at least half the fun.

What did I get for my birthday? Lots of love from my family. My wife puts up with electronic stuff all over the place so I can pursue my dream of running my own business, so I don't think I could ask for more......I guess I could ask for more, but I don't think I'd get it:-)

Last night at work they had a crew of guys come in and strip all the old wax off the floor and re-wax everything. Not sure what's in that floor stripper but none of those guys on the floor crew can have very many functioning brain cells remaining.

It gave me one helluva a headache.

I'm just glad I only have to smell it twice a year when they re-do the floors....those guys smell it every night. I'm thinking they probably have a hard time stringing meaningful words together to form sentences.

Working on a brand setting up a brand new computer this weekend and trying to restore an old one that's infested with spyware. I really hate to use the nuclear option when I try to save someone computer but this particular computer is just being used for browsing and doesn't have any documents or programs installed so it's getting formatted and a fresh XP install.

I'm gonna make it so fireworks go off if the client tries to open or download anything other then web pages:-)

Soooo, I went to the doctor for a normal checkup and to get more arthritis meds.....I lost 7 pounds and dropped my blood pressure down to the high end of normal.....yay.

I'm looking forward to some cool weather but my knees always seem to bother me when it gets chilly. Meh, lots of folks have way worse problems than painful joints, so I'll shut up now.

Not much time to blog this week, busy as heck with computer stuff.

Cows. Lots of cows.

I love the hair in a can stuff. I wonder how well it would look on my shiny forehead?

Our daughter just learned to knit....she might like the site in this video.

One of my favorite memories of her was when I got to stay over at her house in the summer.

She always thought my mom and dad were too strict with me when I was a kid, so as a result....I got to do all kinds of fun stuff when I stayed over. Nothing too out of control, but when you're 12 or 13 years old......staying up 2 or 3 hours past your normal bedtime was sheer craziness.

......I'll always miss her.

PhD's don't work at gas stations...

So I pull into the local mini mart to get gas on the way home this morning.....get the nozzle into the van and the guy inside say something like "Hidhgf kfheodsbb, gheosbcpqwu...BEFUSRID over the outside PA system. Then about 10 seconds later, he says the same thing but at the end he adds...those assholes don't listen. I assume that he thought he was off-mike when he said the last part.....

Since it's 4 AM and I'm the only customer on the property---I figure he's talking to me. I walk inside and tell him I'm the asshole that wasn't listening, but it was hard to understand what he was saying because it sounded like he was talking through a wet blanket.

Turns out he normally sounds like he is talking through a wet blanket and probably has a room temperature IQ at best because he doesn't apologize for calling me an asshole, he just tells me that I need to reset the pump.

I didn't try it, but I managed to tip over a 24 oz coffee all over his counter when I was checking out either so I guess we're even. Oh, if anyone from Rutter's follows the link back to my blog-the guy's name is Emory and he works at the Haines Acres store-he needs to learn some manners.

Where the heck is Fall?

Holy cow, it's October 5th and we have the AC cranking. I checked the weather forecast for the weekend and we are supposed to get close to 90 degrees. Holy crap. My only misgivings with the warmer weather is that we're gonna miss out on the crisp cool weather and go right into winter. That would kinda tick me off....fall is my favorite season.

Yay, I got my laptop back and they got it all fixed up without having to format the hard drive. I had all my stuff backed up but it's still a pain to have to reinstall everything. Our son has a better laptop then me, it was fun using his for the past week.

Our daughter is coming home today to celebrate her 20th birthday tomorrow. We have a party and celebrate her birthday, my dad's birthday and mine all at once. Good times....

My old man was a player....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Here he is back in the day.....does he look like a badass or what?

I'm guessing this is about 1958.

Anyways, today is his 70th birthday and he is probably celebrating by working. If my dad has taught me one thing.... it's that hard work is how you make it in this world. I've had some sort of job since I've been 12 years old.

One of my favorite memories was when I was 14 or so and I had a Sunday morning paper route. Whenever it was raining on Sunday mornings, I'd go into my parents bedroom and wake him up and ask him to "help" with delivering the papers.

We would do the paper route and then go to Dunkin' Donuts and have breakfast....good times. I think he enjoyed rainy Sunday mornings as much as I did.

He's still out there working full time at age 70 not because he has to, it's because he'd probably drive my mom up the wall if he was home all day goofing off.

He's one of the hardest working guys I know and he's my pop.

I love you dad:-)

One of these days he's gonna retire and drive my mom crazy.

....My laptop is on it's way back to me, hopefully it's uptight and outtasight, because while the Indian tech support guy I spoke to was very professional-I don't wanna have to deal with the language barrier again.

It was annoying having to ask him to repeat nearly everything he said. I had a fairly straightforward situation, I'd hate to have a complicated problem to explain to someone that doesn't speak English very well.

I bought a laptop made by an American company that was manufactured in China that has tech support from India. It's a multi-cultural world out there.....I just have a hard time understanding foreign accents over a long distance phone connection.

Who'd a thunk it?

Who woulda thought we'd be cranking up the A/C this late in the year? I was out cutting the grass yesterday and I wanted to die.

Then I went to work and damn near passed out when I cleaned our donut fryer. Leave it to me to pick one of the warmest nights of the past month to be leaning over a boiling tank of water and cleaner for an hour scrubbing dirt.

What can I say, I like clean donuts.

Actually I filter our donut shortening a couple times a week and 4 times a year we completely throw everything out and clean our kettle. If you've ever eaten a donut that tasted greasy, it's because the guy in charge of filtering and cleaning the donut fryer is lazy...it's a hot, dirty job.

I worked with a guy that said "Wow, you could eat off of your donut equipment" Ummm....he kinda forgot that indirectly....people do eat off of the donut equipment. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.....

With our weather here in Central PA, it will probably be 35 degrees in a couple weeks and instead of using ice in all my doughs, I'll be using warm water to make them rise faster..

Good news and bad news

The bad news is that my laptop crapped the bed.

The good news is that everything was backed up, the repairs are covered under warranty and the shipping to the repair center is free also.

It was under a recall for the past couple months but it had to actually break for it to be fixed. Kinda dumb if you ask me, but I still had almost a year for it to break so if it didn't break before time was up....it woulda broke, if you get my drift.

We have 3 other computers, the computer I am typing this on something like 8 or 9 years old and running a version of Ubuntu, I threw some extra RAM in and it's good to go. It's not the fastest machine in the world, but it's faster then the 4 year box we have running XP with 3 times the RAM. Go figure....I guess because the only thing that's on it is XP and Firefox...it's pretty stripped down.

I'm glad I practice what I preach, because I woulda been seriously pissed if I didn't have backups of all my stuff because the tech support people said there is a chance they might have to format the hard drive....back up, back up, back up because it's not if you're going to have a problem, it's when you'll have a problem....

It's only a matter of time until he gets caught.

Whoa....it's 1975 all over again...and again.

I don't know how to act.......

One thing bad about working retail is........the hours.

Sure, I get paid right at the very top of my pay scale so I can't complain a whole lot, but working 6 nights a week every week gets old after awhile. I took 3 nights off, which equates into 2 half days (the other part of those 2 days is spent sleeping) and 2 entire days off.

What did I do with my time off?

-I fixed a computer

-Went computer shopping for another client

-Got lost looking for sunflowers (funnest activity of the weekend)

-Watched several hours of Discovery Health (that's probably one of the best channels on TV) we watched a program on Siamese twins, one on obesity and one on dwarfism.

-Cleaned my wife's car (discovered that the acorns falling out of our trees left several dents in the hood and roof)

-Screwed around on the internets (I am a total news junkie plus I like finding weird stuff to post here)

-Showed my mom how to make a hyperlink on our church crafts blog. Yeah, go check it out-those ladies create some rockin' crafts, my mom runs the website and takes all the pics.

-Every year my parents take a picture of our kids on their birthday by the front door, so we did that this weekend. I'm not allowed to show you this year's picture of our son-but he grew about 8 inches since last year. He's as tall as me and he's only 14....yikes.

-Tweeked the handlebars around on my Surly, I'm digging the upright position mustache bars provide.

-Slept at night......I miss sleeping when it's dark out, we have a regular insect orchestra in our backyard to fall asleep to.

Ever since my mom retired and got a computer and a digital camera......she's turned into a what most folks would call a "senior citizen nerd"

Me? ....I wouldn't call her that-she ain't that old:-) But she has gotten extremely proficient with her laptop and her digital camera...

This is a picture of my parents cat...Molly

My mom treats Molly like a puppy, they go for walks around the yard and she follows my mom everywhere.

I watched this on TV.......I have no idea how he wasn't hurt worse.

I like the part about the 24 hour work week.

Today's science break.......looks like we'll have to do a much better job of getting along with each other.

Today's art break.......check out Doug's pictures, he's pretty darn good. Not sure where he comes up with his ideas, compositions and photo titles-but I love his stuff. I think Doug oughta have seminars on how to compose pictures-I know I'd go.

I know somebody will give me shit for this.......but I think it was a good idea for Columbia University to invite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak. Agree with the dude or not-it's all about critical thinking....something our country is sorely lacking.

Our son is about halfway to saving enough money to buy a Xbox 360, I know this will be the first game he plays on it-because we've had it pre-ordered for a year. I've tried playing Halo 2 with him and he always creams me....I think I'll stick to driving games.

Maybe this guy is gay or maybe he isn't...it's not a big deal to me, but it sure is interesting watching him try to squirm out of a ticket. I guess he shoulda thought about that before he allegedly gave hand signals to an undercover cop under a stall divider.

Mmmmm....chocolate for breakfast.

I think we'll stick to crappy regular TV for awhile.

Stupidity in action.

I told it to take a dump on the sofa but it didn't listen.

My wife says I swear too much on this blog........can't help it this time-this is one bad ass.

I bet you'll watch this more then once.

Here's why I'm such an asshole to smokers when I have to breathe their second hand smoke.

Chuck Norris doesn't blend....more here.

Till later.
