Next time...show up when you're supposed to....

Just got back from taking our son to an appointment.

While I was in the waiting room, 3 people showed up late for appointments and were told they would need to re-schedule.

All 3 of them flipped out and one that was 20 minutes late started bawling...it didn't work-they all left pissed.

Betcha next time they show up when they are supposed to.

till later.

Random observations.....

.....just a few random observations I've had in the past few weeks.

Riding a bicycle with a motor is fun.....hell, I can't wipe the smile off my face whenever I go for a ride. It's been awhile since I've been able to go more then a couple miles from the house without worrying about not making it back due to knee pain.

Some folks can't help being jerks no matter what.

I really hate working 6 nights a week......but I really like the extra money.

Some folks can't help being nice no matter what.

I really enjoy making donuts for a living...just enjoy in moderation-there are already enough fat people walking around.

So far....losing 30+ pounds hasn't been as hard as I thought...just have to have the proper mindset and not eat really stupid stuff....especially right before I go to bed....that's the only part that's easier said then done.

The people that bought the new Apple iPad this past weekend are gonna be pissed in 6 months when a better version comes out....you just know Apple is leaving stuff out on purpose just to add it to the next upgrade.

Computers rarely infect themselves with viruses, spyware, adware and malware. As much as I hate to say it-if your computer is screwed up....it's usually your fault.

The BBC makes some good TV programs...or programmes if you're British.

One more thing...if anyone has 110,000 dollars laying around they don't need-please buy me one of these.

till later.

This pisses me off..............

This will probably be the only thing Bill O'Reilly and I ever agree on.

Like Bill.....I also donated money to this guys legal defense fund-if you read this and have at least one ounce of compassion for this brave father-pony up a few bucks.

Seriously-10 bucks ain't gonna hurt....skip a coffee or two.

No father should have to bury their own son and especially under circumstances like this guy had to endure.

I like free speech as much as the next guy, but in my opinion-what the Westboro Baptist Church is doing at the funerals of US service men and woman should be made illegal.

Free speech? In this case, I don't think what these folks are doing at funeral is free speech.

Am I wrong?

I don't really care.

Donate some money.

I love me some Jamie Oliver.........

I've been a fan of Jamie Oliver for a long time......the guy is a great chef but more importantly- the guy is a great communicator and is passionate about healthy food.

I just watched his new show on ABC.

Making donuts for a living sort makes me feel like a crack dealer...but I don't hold a gun to any of my customers heads forcing them to buy donuts.

Ain't no way you can pretend donuts are good for you, so if you buy my stuff-eat it in moderation.

Not sure how well he is gonna go over in West By God Virginia.....but I can tell you that West Virginia isn't the only place in the USA that has loads of overweight people that have no idea what's in their food.

By no means am I a food chemist, but I've been in the food industry for 35 years in one form or another and I can tell you that if you read the label on the side of your favorite frozen food and you don't know or understand what some of the ingredients are or what they do......look them up on Google-you might be surprised what some of those unpronounceable chemicals actually are and what they do.

One of the companies I have worked for in the past would add a chemical to their donut dough just to make it easier to process it through their machinery....most food manufacturers don't have your best interest at heart.

Yeah, I'm just some dumbass that makes donuts for a living, but I see most of my customers....and there ain't many skinny donut enthusiasts.

till later.

This is disgusting.......

More kid touchers......looks like the corruption goes all the way to the top.

I'm not surprised.

This just ain't right.

I can barely climb a set of stairs........

.......but I can ride my bike again dammit.

I added a motor.

After watching my bikes gather dust last year....I decided to add a little assist to my hybrid last winter.

I did my research and decided to buy a top of the line system and motor- I wanted something that lasted for a long time- unfortunately...quality parts cost quality money.

So far, I added an additional gas tank so I can ride about 150 miles without stopping for fuel, I also added a larger muffler and sound absorbing exhaust tubing, a twist throttle and a better spark plug.

On flat ground.....it will go 35 mph. I'm not really planning on riding around at 35 mph all the time but it has plenty of power to get my fat ass up just about any hill around here.

I took it to the first group ride of our clubs calendar this past Sunday......overall, my friends thought it was a scream.

Really looking forward to getting out and about this year. It will be way cool to do some of the rides (and distances) I used to do in past years. Sure, I won't be able to put in nearly as much sweat equity like I used to do...but nothing beats fresh air in your face-even if it is 2 stroke gasoline assisted.

Since last December since my doc told me to lose weight to save some wear and tear on my knees-I've dropped about 30 pounds- I'd plan to lose another 30 pounds......my knees will thank me, but I kinda have a feeling the next 30 won't be nearly as easy as the first 30. I was only planning on losing a pound a week for a year so at this point-I'm ahead of the game.

Been busy as all get out between working 6 nights a week making donuts and fixing computers....haven't been updating my blog a whole bunch over the winter- I still post up some stuff over at Facebook.

I'll try to update this blog more often but I can't promise anything.

Hopefully.... I'll be out riding my bike!

Till later :-)

IRS.....

Joke

At the end of the tax year, the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a local hospital.

While the IRS agent was checking the books he turned to the CFO of the hospital and said, "I notice you buy a lot of bandages. What do you do with the end of the roll when there's too little left to be of any use?"

"Good question," noted the CFO. "We save them up and send them back to the bandage company and every now and then they send us a free box of bandages."

"Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way.

"What about all these plaster purchases? What do you do with what's left over after setting a cast on a patient?"

"Ah, yes," replied the CFO, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. "We save it and send it back to the manufacturer, and every now and then they send us a free package of plaster."

"I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all CFO. "Well," he went on, "What do you do with all the leftover foreskins from the circumcisions you perform?"

"Here, too, we do not waste," answered the CFO. "What we do is save all the little foreskins and send them to the IRS Office, and about once a year they send us a complete dick."

I couldn't agree more.

I went to the local IRS office this afternoon to pick up some forms and they were out of one I wanted to look at.....walked into the office, 6 or 7 people were waiting-I asked the 85 year old security guard about the form and he said I need to take a number.

A number just to tell them they are out of a form? The old guy said yup.....I'll come back some other time.....

My bike's done.........

Pictures to follow later this week. Busy week with computer stuff...

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Holy smokes............

Boy, am I ever ready for a vacation next week.

I'm fortunate enough to have 4 weeks of time off every year, so I like to take a week off for every season. I have a bunch of computer stuff lined up next week and I would like to finish the motor install on my bicycle and maybe do my taxes.

The highlight of the week however is Friday night- my lovely wife and I are going to see Riverdance.

I think my wife and I have spent about 20 minutes together total in the past couple weeks....it will be nice to hang out for an evening and spend some quality time with each other.

till later.

Abbott and Costello......

My friend Jim sent me this............

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on...

If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: Thanks I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.

ABBOTT: Your computer?

COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.

ABBOTT: What about Windows?

COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?

COSTELLO: I don't know.. What will I see when I look at the windows?

ABBOTT: Wallpaper.

COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

ABBOTT: Software for Windows?

COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

ABBOTT: I just did.

COSTELLO: You just did what?

ABBOTT: Recommend something.

COSTELLO: You recommended something?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: For my office?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

ABBOTT: Word.

COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: Word in Office.

COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?

ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue 'W'.

COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue 'w' if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.

COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.

COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT: One copy.

COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later)

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?

ABBOTT: Click on 'START'.............

Seen on Reddit........

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Free your heart from hatred - forgive.

Free your mind from worries - most never happen.

Live simply and appreciate what you have.

Give more.

Expect less.

NOW ............

Enough of that crap . ... The donkey later came back, and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON:

When you do something wrong, and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.

20 pounds.............

Woo hoo.....my total weight loss so far is 20 pounds.

So far, this was easy- I kinda have the feeling that the next 20 ain't gonna be so easy.

I'm not worried....I'll do what I gotta do to drop the weight. I don't really feel all that different with the exception of all my work pants don't stay up...looks like I'm going to be wearing suspenders so I don't have permanent plumbers butt.

Go my motor and all the mounting hardware.......

Side view..............

Rear view....check out that gnarly roller.

First thing I did was to install a centerstand on the bike, so my 500 dollar investment doesn't fall over and get dinged....that would piss me off.

Yeah, sure it's gonna look a little dorky but I'm not really that concerned.

I did have to do a little backyard engineering on the mounting plate for the kickstand, since the bike wasn't really designed with a kickstand in mind-the front derailleur wire and the mounting plate had to share the same space......got my drill out and made me a hole.

Neat, huh?

My next door neighbor came over to check everything out and we both agreed one of the mounting plates is a little janky. It looks plenty strong for what it has to do...just looks homemade. I'm gonna paint it semi-gloss black and hope that it blends in with the paint scheme on the bike.

At the suggestion of my neighbor (the dude is wicked smart), I'm also going to replace several of the mounting bolts with higher strength rated bolts...the ones supplied are probably okay, but if one snapped off when I was 20 or 30 miles out-I'd be screwed.

It's gonna be a little while before I have more pics of progress.....I want to take my time and do everything perfect.

till later.

I'm not that smart.........

I just make donuts for a living and I'm a nutjob registered Libertrian, so I might not be the smartest guy in the room.....but so far President Obama ain't impressing me a whole lot.

Let's see- for the first year of his presidency-he had a super majority in the Senate and House and as far as I can tell-he hasn't got shit done.

Now, to be honest...he inherited a shitbag full of problems from the previous president, but if I was the pres and had a 60/40 lead in the Senate and a majority in the House....I'd be busting me some major league balls and getting at least something done.

If the Republicans had the same situation and the same numbers in their favor and they wanted to get a health care plan done-it would be done by now and they'd be off screwing something else up.

Gotta hand it to the Republicans-they know how to get stuff done, even if the stuff they get done is mostly useless- they still know how to use the entire political system to their benefit.

Too bad the entire political system is useless as teats on a boarhog......

I don't know...........

I don't know if the following facts are 100% accurate-but it sure is interesting....

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day.
2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.
4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears, Costco + K-Mart combined.
5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private employer, and most speak English.
6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World.
7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only 15 years.
8. During this same period, 31 Supermarket Chains sought bankruptcy.
9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 Years ago.
11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at a Wal-Mart store. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)
12.. 90% of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart. You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that............
MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy because the idiots in Washington and sure can't do it!

17 pounds.........

So far, I've lost 17 pounds. To celebrate- I bought one of these.

Not sure exactly how I'm gonna pay for it quite yet, but I gotta have something to look forward to when it gets warm out.

I think I rode a total of 20 miles last year.....to be honest-it just hurts too damn bad to ride very far and dear God-I love me some riding.

Been riding a bike since I've been 4 years old and I'll be damned if my 80 year old arthritic knees are gone be a hindrance to getting a little fresh air.

Sure, it won't be as nearly as much physical exercise, but I need the mental exercise just as much.

Not sure how my riding buddies will react, but at least I should be able to keep up with them.....

....at least till I run out of gas.

Getting old sucks the big one.

Well, so far I've lost a total of 14 pounds and didn't loose an ounce this past week. Totally my fault, I had off a 3 day weekend and pretty much ate like an idiot.

As a reminder to lose weight, my knees remind me I'm a fatso by constantly aching. I had some serious breakthrough pain this morning but a couple of Vicadin helped.

I'm back on the wagon this week, hopefully I'll have some decent results next week....anyways, lots of folks out there have way worse problems then I do.

The news sure ain't good down in Haiti......I can't even imagine losing everything. By everything I mean family and friends...just gone.

Material things can be replaced in time but family....like I said before-I can't even imagine.

Say a prayer.

Another reason..........

Here's another reason I like working on computers.............

I just pulled several thousand pictures off an unbacked up hard drive that was inoperative.

Pictures of my client at her wedding, her mom's last birthday party before she passed away, etc.

Of course she is gonna get a bill for my services but it sure feels good being able to help someone who thought her stuff was gone forever.

They are also going to get the "back up your stuff" lecture when I drop off the laptop:-)

Data doesn't exist unless it is stored on at least 2 separate hard drives.

I've already learned that lesson.

Still here......

Wow.....what can I say-it's been quite awhile since I posted anything of substance on my blog.

Reasons why?

-Burnt out on blogging.

-I've been extremely busy with my consulting business.

-Been very busy at my "real job"...working 6 nights a week, 50 hours a week plus 10 to 20 hours working on computers and consulting.

Excuses, excuses, excuses......

Here's what's been going on in my life...

I visited my doc back in December to see what's going on with my knees.

My pain level has gotten to the point were I can barely climb or descend a set of stairs. After a bunch of x-rays-turns out I have a nice case of arthritis in my knees. I sorta knew that, but the x-rays confirmed what I pretty much already knew.

Since I was about 35 pounds overweight back in December...losing weight was the first thing on the list of things to do.....so far, I lost about 10 pounds and to say I'm highly motivated to lose weight would be an understatement.

Anyways....enough of that stuff for now.

More stuff to follow.....

Christmas Day is *not* bullshit..........

The day of Christmas and Christmas eve are pretty cool.

Spending time with family and friends is good stuff.

All we need to do is eliminate the 2 month run up to December 25th and I'd be a happy boy.

till later

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Christmas is bullshit.

Here's an idea......instead of everyone stressing out over finding the "perfect gift" for your kid, husband, wife, mother-in-law, etc.....

Next year-let's all donate the money we would spend on each other to their favorite charity....there is always someone out there worse off then you and they need food and shelter more then you need a vibrating, color pulsing, fur covered coffee cup.

The retail industry will probably collapse, but buying dumb shit for people that really don't need more dumb shit is a dumb tradition.

I work retail and to be honest.....I hate the 2 month long run up to Christmas each year.

Let's be honest, how many happy people do you see this time of year? Not many and the ones that you do see happy are probably drunk off their asses.

Christmas ain't about buying dumb shit for people you really don't like......Christmas means lots of different stuff to lots of different people....but lets take the tradition buying of dumb shit out of the equation.

Whaddya all think?

Life lessons.........

My friend Ted sent me this.......

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old,
The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

01. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

02. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

03. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

04. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

05. Pay off your credit cards every month.

06. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

07. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

08. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

09. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past, so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. No one is in charge of your happiness, but you.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".

26. Always choose life.

27 Forgive everyone everything.

28. What other people think of you is none of your business.

29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.

30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

32. Believe in miracles.

33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

36. Your children get only one childhood.

37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

41. The best is yet to come.

42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

43. Yield.

44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Good stuff, huh?

This is why you're fat........

Oh hell yeah.....if I made these at work....we would sell every last one.

Badass

You want badass? THIS is badass.

YouTube - Johnny Cash Hurt

Motivated

I'm motivated like a MF'er to lose some weight.

I found a way cool calorie tracker at Livestrong.com that I can use on my Blackberry and my laptop to track everything I eat. It's pretty cool, I use it while I'm away from the computer on my Blackberry and it graphs everything out.

I went to the doctor last week and the first thing the doc said is to lose some weight and maybe my knees won't feel so bad.

Honestly...my knees are fucking killing me.

If I can stay off of cigarettes for 10 years and counting....I can lose 30 or 40 pounds. It might take a year to do it....but I will do it. You can believe that shit.

It would be nice to be able to walk up and down a flight of stair without having to use the handrails for support.

Will losing weight help?

Oh, hell yeah....I don't know if it will totally elimanate my problems but living with the pain and discomfort I have now for the rest of my like is NOT an option.

It sure was fun getting fat-now it's time to get fucking real and make sure I live to be old enough to see my grandkids graduate from college.

I wanna be one of the opinionated old geezers that can sit at the family dinner table and say all kinds of off the wall shit and get away with it because I'm old.

I'd also like to be able to get out on the bike and do a little riding as well....I really really miss being able to go out for hours at a time to be able to clear my head.

Hey, after all-the title of this here blog is... BIKE riding donut guy.

What's the difference between Tiger's Cadillac and his pitching wedge?....He can back up his pitching wedge.

What do Tiger Woods and a baby seal have in common? They both get clubbed by Norwegians.

What do rednecks and Tiger Woods have in common? They both park their cars on the lawn.

Kid touchers..........

Okay, okay....my mom told me to post on my own blog....so I will because everyone should listen to their mother.

Look for edgier content in the future and less family friendly shit.

For example....stuff like these kid touching perverts.

That's all for now, in my next post, I'll describe how I almost had the shit beat out of me on Thanksgiving eve.

Taking a break........

I'll be honest, I'm a little burned out writing this blog.......right now I am a guest writer on another blog that a tiny bit more popular then mine.

The stuff I am writing for them is similar to what I post here but it's a little bit more edgier and somewhat more off-color.

Not sure if I am going to post a link to it or not yet......

It's almost Christmas......

Well, not exactly but it is almost Thanksgiving.

Did I just type that? Wow, it seems like it was just Labor Day.

Christmas is less then 6 weeks away and to be honest.....it's not one of favorite holidays.

I work retail and the next few weeks leading up to the holiday are the busiest and most stressful of the whole year.

I still have more than enough stuff to be thankful for to let a few cranky people ruin my day.

Things to know..........

Next time you shop at your favorite retail store, here are some things to know.....

-If you're in hurry shopping...don't freak out at the clerk waiting on you-I'll go just that tiny bit slower just to watch your face get red.

-I think I've said this before, but it bears repeating....be nice. You'll get the best service you've ever gotten when you're nice.

-Don't try to talk on your cellphone while you're trying to talk to me as I try to assist you....actually, I'll ignore you until you hang up. If you get a phone call while I'm serving you and you take it and ignore me....I'll walk away and let you finish your conversation.

-Don't whistle to get my attention. Seriously. I'll call you out on it.

-Don't ask me "Where are the fucking samples?" at 1 AM. Sorry....you get nothing.

Seriously, I'm a really nice guy but folks nowadays shop like they drive..... and quite a few people are self-absorbed assholes that think bigger and louder is always better.

Maybe my 80 year old knees are putting me in a bad frame of mind...time for a nap.

What a weekend!!!

It's early November and it's 70 degrees outside. Perfect weather to do one of our families favorite activities.....raking a metric assload of dead leaves out to the curb.

Hosted by imgur.com

It's pretty much to only part of Fall I'm not in love with.

We had our parents over for Sunday evening dinner.....good times and my lovely wife makes a totally kick ass Italian wedding soup.

She's a good cook, she makes a ton more money then I do and she looks 15 years younger then her actual age.......am I a lucky guy or what?

Why do women always feel colder than men?

Why do women always feel colder than men?

I don't know but my lovely wife freezes her ass off in the winter. (She's not fat)

Me?

I'm happy if the thermostat is set at 64 all winter. (I'm fat)

I did however, buy my lovely wife one of these for the winter. Since we have "time of day" rates....electricity is dirt cheap from 8PM to 8AM.....and my lovely wife doesn't have to freeze to death while she's watching TV at night.

Best wife ever....gotta keep her warm and happy:-)

Been a couple weeks....and a whole lot of nothing.

I guess the point of having a blog is to post stuff to it once and awhile....I've been busier then usual, so not much time to post stuff....sorry.

It's been work, sleep, eat and work on computers much of the past two weeks.

Our son has been wanting an iPhone for at least the last 2 years....Christmas came early this year. I bought him a barely used one on eBay and took it in to the AT&T store to have it activated.

He loves it.... Me? It's nice and everything, but I think I'll stick with my Blackberry...my fingers are too fat to use a virtual keyboard.

Anyone see this? College Grads Coming Up Short in Professionalism. What the hell? It's not the colleges fault....it's shitty parenting. If you let your kids act like assholes....guess what? They are gonna grow up to be assholes.

We just had a beautiful weekend weather wise here on the east coast....now it's back to rain. Kinda makes me wanna crawl into a huge vat of mashed potatoes and eat my way out with a spoon made out of butter.

I like winter more then I used to, my knees on the other hand aren't looking forward to it a whole lot. Maybe someone sells battery powered knee warmers....oops-looks like someone does. Not sure if my lovely wife would want me to spend 260 bucks (plus another hundy for 2 extra batteries) for them though. They sure do like tempting though....

I see things are going just peachy over in Afghanistan....if the USSR got their asses handed to them 20 years ago...well, maybe they oughta be a clue as to what we are headed for.

I sure would like these folks to get done with there 15 minutes of fame real soon. They are both starting to annoy me. Grow the hell up and raise your kids.

As long as he stays in Texas, he should do fine. Would I sit and listen to him? Maybe.

Ummm....did everyone forget he was a kid toucher? Just sayin'.

Holy crap....getting the Democrats to do anything must be like herding cats.

I call bullshit.

Don't fall for this one folks.

The accidental haircut..........

I've been on vacation the past week.....gotta say-doing a "staycation" is way more relaxing than packing up the van and going somewhere for a week.

The downside?

You don't get to go away and see stuff.

The upside?

You save a pile of money and get to sleep in your own bed.

Unfortunately, my wife had to work most of the week, so I scheduled lots of computer work to keep me busy.

I do know one thing, if I had to drive a lot for my job.....I'd probably buy a used police car and leave all the markings on it to drive to appointments. I had a client over in Lancaster and drove on Rt 30 to get there in haevy traffic.

My speedster days are long gone, I'm fairly content to drive along at 5 mph over the speed limit...I felt like I was in a NASCAR race for a half hour. People were following me less than a car length behind me, cutting in in front of me, driving while talking on the cell, wondering all over the road etc.....I think we need to tighten up traffic enforcement....if you pass a stringent test-you can drive on the highway-if you don't pass-you get to drive on surface streets.

Anyways......this was my birthday weekend and once a year my in-laws take all their kids out to dinner theater. As it so happens, I needed a haircut. My lovely wife always cuts my hair and she always does a great job. As I was fetching my clippers...I didn't notice that the attachment on the clippers that regulates how much hair is removed ....sorta fell off.

My wife took one nice long swipe at the back of my head and well...I kinda now how a really short haircut all over as she didn't want me going to dinner with a nice haircut (from the front view) with a bald stripe going up the back of my head.

Eh, it will grow back.

My pop surprised me with one helluva a birthday present. 2 years ago, I borrowed several thousand bucks to set up by business and buy some advertising. I started paying him back this year and his birthday present to me was to completely forgive my entire loan to him.

Thanks, dad! My business partner (my son) and I pretty much throw all the money back into the business at this point. My son is going to be an expert as using a Macbook, he's been using it pretty much non-stop for the past few days.

I don't think I'll be able to quit my job any time soon, but it will be one heck of a nice source of income when I retire from making donuts.

This past weekend is also traditionally..."Door Picture Day". My parents have been taking pictures of Katie and Dan every year since they've been babies.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

They ain't babies any more.

Our daughter is in her 4th/5th year of her PA degree and our son is in 11th grade and might possible end up 7 feet tall. The kid is tall....but I can still take him.....barely.

Oh, I almost forget...I'm now 50 as of today. Other than 85 year old knees....life is pretty good.

till later.

Still think about you........

My Aunt Helen passed away on October 9th several years ago.......I still think about her most everyday.

I think I inherited most of her personality.

...... at least the good parts.

Love, your nephew.

My son and I are ...........

We are the proud owner of a new 13" Macbook Pro with the faster processor, 4 gigs of RAM and I sprung for iWork as well.

First impressions?

This thing is SOLID.

Since it's made out of aluminum, it doesn't flex at ALL.

Super simple to set up and since I have an early copy of Windows 7, I used Boot Camp to install that as well. Win 7 works fairly well on a 4 year old laptop but it flies on the Macbook. If you've stuck with XP for the past few years...Win 7 will be a whole new ball game, but I recommend either waiting to get it on a new PC or buying a system builders copy from Newegg and doing a clean install.

I like the Mac's glass screen with the LED backlighting....I now see why they cost more then the usual PC stuff you buy from HP or Dell-part of it is because they don't cheap out on materials...the display is NICE! The backlit keyboard is really sweet as well, not sure what's different about the key action, but it feels so much smoother then my HP laptop.

I'm just some joker that makes donuts for a living but I can see switching over to all Apple machines as mine wear out. They are nice pieces.

I've was working on a new clients machine yesterday....as part of my service-I open desktops up and blow all the dust out of them and reseat all the connectors and RAM. This particular machine had never been opened up or cleaned since it was new 5 or 6 years ago.

I tried using compressed air out of a can....didn't cut it, I ended up using my leaf blower on it. The machine might not be salvalgeable as the dust had built up so badly that none of the fans were able to spin and I'm afraid something overheated in the past because the machine will only run for a minute of so before shutting off. I want to at least pull the hard drive out and get all the data out before I give up.

The worst news you can give someone isn't that their computer is dead...it's the fact that the data is toast as well.

One more helpful hint....change your routers default passwords...any geek out there already knows your default password.

Nice....2 shootings in one day. I drive past were the second shooting occurred every morning on my way to drop off our son at school. Not saying that York is unsafe but it isn't exactly safe either.

I am having some bumper stickers made.....In big letters-"Don't Blame ME"...in smaller letter below..."I didn't vote for him."

I'm a registered Libertarian, so I voted my party in the last election.

I'm not sure what the hell is going on in DC but Obama has a majority in BOTH houses and he hasn't got shit done yet.

Maybe I don't have a firm grasp on how things work down in Washington, but if I was in charge and had the advantage in both houses....I'd be busting some Democratic skulls together to get stuff done.

I know I busted Bush's balls on an almost daily basis when he was in office...but he was a complete dumbass. At least (I think anyways) that Obama has at least half a brain...I'd sure like to see something accomplished soon before China owns all our debt obligations.

This is a shame....all I can think about is how the 8 kids are handling all this. Mom and Dad are being complete assholes.

Drive one and 1/2 blocks? Damn, that's lazy. I used to have to walk or ride my bike over a mile to get to high school every morning.....at least until I got my first car.

till later.

Clutter happens.......

Since I'm on vacation this week...I figured it would be a good time to clean out all my drawers and closet and switch everything over to "winter" clothes and also clean up around my nightstand where I seem to pile all of my read and unread magazines and any other crap laying around on my dresser.

5 hours later...I have my nightstand cleaned, my clothes switched over in my dresser and the top of my dresser cleaned off. Barely touched my side of the closet. I have a 1 year rule...if you haven't used it in the past year, has no sentimental value and it didn't cost a ton of money to purchase...it goes in the trash or gets donated.

I'm gonna donate a bunch of clothing....except some of my clothing won't be donated. I have some extremely worn out t-shirts that no longer fit me and probably will never fit me again...but I can't bring myself to chuck them....too many good memories in those old shirts.....

We are going out to dinner this weekend....bad news-the pants that fit me in January no longer fit...I'm gonna have to do a "Billy Bob" and go to Wal Mart for a new pair with a higher number waist size....then lose some damn weight. My problem is my knees have never come back 100% after my surgery this year....the bastards hurt to some degree pretty much all the time.

I have a brand new 13" Macbook Pro sitting here ready to get opened up and turned on...I figured I'd have plenty of time this week. As it turns out, the computer consulting is rapidly filling up my spare time this week. I'm all set-I got a book and a magazine with a test of the exact model I bought included....just gotta carve out some time.

Why not right now instead of writing this blog entry?

This blog entry was put together over a couple days here and there and right at the moment-I'm having a cocktail and I'll be headed to bed. My rule for working on computers? Never work on computers when you're tired or when you've imbibed.

I'm not nuts.....honest.

If you were to walk into our house....you'd kinda be able to tell I like computers. Between my son and I-we have 3 laptops, 2 desktops and a new 13 inch MacBook pro on the way.

I've had several inquirys about Apple in the past year and since I've never had one before...I've had to turn down business.

Turning down business ain't a very good business strategy if you wanna build a business so I took the plunge and layed out a fair amount of money for one of their machines.

Sure hope my plan it makes me some money. I have a year to pay for it and also gotta pay back my pop for a loan I took out to get everything off the ground.

Making a little pocket money sure is expensive:-)

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Why.....................

Trying to figure out why the cheapest laptop I can buy from Apple is over a thousand bucks for a 13 inch screen.

I want to learn how Apples work so I can add them to my repertoire. I've had a few client inquiry's about setting them up...not really sure how they work or much of anything else about them. I figure the best way to learn is to buy one and figure it out for myself.

Anyone out there have a good reason why they are so damn expensive?

Nobody believes me..............

When I tell folks I'm almost 50 years old....they usually put me at around late 30's or maybe 40. I suppose part of it is that I don't act my age.....and part of it is the fat cells in my face pushing out the wrinkles.

Anyways....my son and I are gonna invite one of my nephews over to light some of my old model cars on fire and roll them down the driveway.

Doesn't sound very mature for a 50 year old.....screw that-I wanna have fun and what 10 year old nephew wouldn't enjoy having fun lighting plastic model cars on fire with an adults permission? Hell, I'd like to set a full size car on fire and roll it down the street, but I think I might get in trouble for that.

Most folks over 50 probably ain't gonna see any humor here.....

I'm not complaining, mind you......

One week....absolutely no consulting at all. Zip, nada, zilch.

This upcoming week....I'm almost completely booked for the week and it's only Sunday.

If you live anywhere in Central PA....you know that this week is York Fair week. I typically don't go, I really don't like being in large crowds of people....and if you've been in a rundown Wal-Mart lately-those are the same people that go to the fair.

How come Apple releases a new version of iTunes every 4 days? It keeps asking me if I want to update.....no. I want you to leave me the hell alone so I can play my stuff.

Mom said there would be days like this.....

So......I was showing a new associate how to drain and filter the shortening in the donut fryer. I carefully explained what to do and what not do......and proceeded to do a "what not to do".

Things could be worse.....I worked at a place 20 years ago that had a 500 gallon shortening spill....that was a mess.

It always helps to look on the bright side when you screw stuff up....it can always be worse, whatever-my trainee and I both got a laugh out of my clumsiness. Now he how knows what a "what not to do" looks life in real life.

Best time of the year.......

Back when I was a kid....summer was my all-time favorite season. Now that I'm a tad bit older-it's tough to beat the 8 weeks of September and October. Cool crisp mornings...humidity free in the daytime and nice and cool in the evening.

This week at work, I'm training a new associate on the fine art of baking and donut making. If I had my druthers...I'd be training people all the time-it's one of my favorite things to do. The gentleman I'm working with this week is semi-retired and was looking for something extra to do. It's always a pleasure to work with more "mature" associates....

I may sound like an old whippersnapper, but kids nowadays could learn a few things from us older guys.

I dunno...but if I owned a store with tons of shiny new computers-I'd have a steel grate across the door when I wasn't open.

I was on Facebook and saw one of my coworkers baby girl....awww she is soooo adorable. I can hardly wait for grandkids. Our daughter is still in college so there isn't a rush, but it will be so cool when it happens.

Some folks are thick.............

So, a large framed customer (the guy was really, really fat) walks up to the counter last night and asks me if donuts have a lot of calories.

My first thought was to ask him if he was high.

Thought better of that and told the guy that yes, donuts are probably one of the worst things you can eat if you're watching what you eat.

He seemed satisfied with that answer.....and then proceeded to buy a dozen donuts. Oooookay. Let's face it-not many skinny people eat donuts.
~
One of my friends at work has Downs Syndrome. He doesn't let that get in his way of putting in 100% effort every night he comes to work.....there are lots of folks that are "normal" that don't have nearly the work ethic that Brian does.

My favorite saying he has is "shut up and get to work" ....ya gotta like a guy like that. He doesn't complain, he doesn't explain...he just smiles and works his ass off.
~
It always amazes me how some folks are complete assholes when they think they are anonymous on the internet.

Me?

Yeah, on rare occasions I'll be an asshole, but I always try to do it in person....it feels better that way and you get to see the look on someones face when you call them out. I think I might be a confrontation addict.
~
Madonna doesn't get it....nobody gives a shit about what she thinks-they paid for a ticket to hear her sing, not listen to a lecture.
~
Why is this news? You know my opinion-Jon and Kate need to suck it up for the next 10 years or so and finish raising their kids.

Anybody watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta? I like the other locations the show has been to but I can't stand listening to ebonics...so I'm skipping this run.

Back to school...

Our son starts 11th grade on Wednesday. One question.....what's up with starting school before Labor Day?

Being somewhat old school, I think this is a dumbass idea.

If I was king....school would start the week after Labor Day and run 5 1/2 days a week until May 1st with one week off at Christmas.

The best part of being a kid is having summers off.

I know when I was a kid, summer was the time to get part time jobs mowing yards, paper routes and I also worked at an auction house from age 12 to age 16 every Saturday.

I did all that stuff and still had plenty of time to have fun and get into trouble....just ask my mom.

I got one of those fancy Blackberry's.....I'm getting to the point where I have to check my schedule before I make appointments....I'm absent minding and I need something that beeps at me when I need to be somewhere.....ain't technology great?

I was setting up my mom's laptop so she gets all of her e mail from her different accounts sent to Windows Mail......jeez, all you have to do is miss one port setting and nothing works right. Hopefully, I have it done correctly (after several attempts) and ....Mom, if you're reading this-feel free to chip in and tell everyone what a wonderful son I am.

My pop is wearing one of those portable heart monitors for a month, the docs are looking for an irregular heartbeat....my old man is one tough Irish guy-he said they ain't gonna find any problems. Alrightly then dad...just listen to the doctors....we'd like you to stick around for awhile.

Wow...this whole Michael Jackson thing won't die (see what I did there?) My opinion? It's a sad tale starting from the time the dude burned all his hair off filming a Pepsi commercial and it went downhill from there. He was one strange guy.

I'm waiting for a better program. I want the government to replace my Chrysler minivan with another Chrysler product for free since they are pretty much owned by the government. Then I'd sell the new vehicle. I have no idea what made me buy a Chrysler product but never again....I'm sticking with Subies from now on.

I'm one of those Libertarian nutjobs, so I didn't vote for Obama but his party has the edge in both the Senate and the House of Representatives......why isn't anything getting done? The Democrats continue to find new ways to lose. I'm sure it ain't this simple, but if I was President, I'd call each and every Democrat to the Oval Office, get about 2 inches away from them and read them the riot act. They are gonna piss away the next year and get squat accomplished.

What do I know, all I do is make donuts and fix computers.....and shoot my mouth off.

Back to normal....

Our daughter is back at college, our son starts 11th grade this week and fall is just around the corner. In 6 or 7 months....our son will be driving the green monster to school and dad will be able to hit the sack right away when he comes home from donut duty at 5:30 AM.

Yay.

Not too sure about my diet. All I know is that I gotta take it just a touch more serious. Dumb and fat ain't no way to go through life. What kills me is when I come home in the morning and want to inhale the entire contents of the refrigerator.

I have 4 perfectly good bikes.....maybe I oughta ride one of them once and awhile.

Button rage...........

One of my long time clients called me up...she was having trouble working the remote control for her DVD player. If I was the guy designing remote controls-I'd have an on/off button, a channel up/down button, a mute button and a volume button.

The rest of the controls?

I'd figure something out....

Her remote control has at least 2 dozen buttons...all with teeny tiny writing that's all but undecipherable to my 50 year old eyes. My client is a few years older then me and she was a little frustrated.

To get the DVD player to work, you need to push a button on the TV remote and then push the same button again within 2 seconds to select your viewing source...none of the viewing sources are tagged "DVD" Once we had that figured out, the DVD player has it's own remote with about 900 tiny little buttons.

Both the TV and the DVD player are made by Sony.......somebody at Sony needs their ass kicked.

If I could figure a way to make a universal remote with large easily understandable buttons....I'd be able to retire on the profits.

Mmmmmmmm steak.

As predicted.....Mike cleaned me out of my 20 bucks at poker on Thursday night. Never gamble with more money then you are willing to kiss goodbye. Heck, the way I look at it...$20 bucks was worth it for an evening of entertainment with the boys and............

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

STEAK!!!!

Couple of things you might notice....

-There's enough meat for 4 people...only 2 of us.

-Mike uses REAL charcoal to cook meat-tasted awesome.

-The grill screen is never cleaned-natural anti-stick

All I gotta say is Mike is one helluva cook. The man knows how to cook meat....crispy on the outside and tender and BLOODY on the inside...and he makes one mean Hollindaise sauce.

Today is the first day I've had off from work in 12 days straight. The celebrate (other than playing poker last night) I'm doing absolutely nothing. It's gonna be an effort to put on a shirt to go outside and check the mail. I'm 2 bottles into a 4 pack of wine coolers and it's only 2 in the afternoon.....looks like I'm staying home for the rest of the day.

I got our daughters car back from the shop...1900 bucks. New brakes, rotors, state inspection and a complete engine disassembly to replace every single gasket in the engine. If it cost anywhere near that much to fix ever again....I'm gonna drive it through the front window of my mechanics garage. It's always something but over the long run...it's still cheaper then a new car.

Here's an example of how money can screw you up. I say let the guy get on with his life. He paid his debt to society..I don't particularly like the dude-but he deserves a second chance...it's not like he drank a 5th of Jim Beam and swerved into a minibus full of kids and killed them all or something. Killing dogs isn't exactly sterling human behavior...but he coulda done worse.

Pretty soon....the Japanese will all be as fat as Americans.

New computer time...

Not for me......the client I was talking about yesterday.

Coulda been worse, the computer that I replaced was almost 10 years old-it was due. No biggie, I had a back up less then 24 hours old. I just transfered all his stuff and I was in bed by 1 PM. Didn't have the time to remove all the crapware yet....I'll do that sometime next week.

Yay for me.

The only casualty was my bike ride with my friend Mike....fortunately he's an understanding friend- I'm sure he'll thank me by taking all my money at poker later tonight....

Anybody got a few spare hundred thousand bucks?

I wanna do something like this. I have the technical skills and the sense of humor to pull it off. Unfortunately, our area is flooded with donut shops and most folks around here probably aren't ready to pay a dollar for donut. It would be a lot of hours but I like being creative.....maybe I'll post up some of my wilder creations...

Stay back 100 feet.......I'm just like a firetruck. My lovely wife made me an entire batch of chili before she left for the beach. I've had it for my last 3 meals. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Yesterday a client's computer shit the bed.....today...I hope I don't.

Sometimes I don't think very much before I eat stuff.

Seriously....shut the hell up. If she was an ugly old white guy instead of a leggy attractive woman....nobody would give a shit what she's saying.

Back up, back up, back up.

Heading out to a client who has a server that shit the bed.

I'm pretty sure it's terminal....I've had problems with this box in the past.

I'm just glad I talked them into buying a portable hard drive that backs up nightly and off site storage that does the same as well.

Worst case scenario is that he'll be out a few hundred bucks for a new computer.

What to do...........

I'm almost at the end of a 12 day straight period of work.

Since my family is in Myrtle Beach......how's the donut guy gonna unwind? One word.....

Poker.

Yup, gonna spend 30 dollars of the family budget on a little poker Thursday night. Every time I play, I get a little better-who knows....maybe one of these days I'll win a game.

I'm also being a total slacker when I'm not working or fixing computers...the grass really, really needs cut but instead of using some of my free time on Wednesday morning to do it....screw it, I'm going for a bike ride with my buddy Mike.

The grass will still be there when I get around to it....bike riding is a serious business.

till later.

Facebook | Sarah Palin: Statement on the Current Health Care Debate

Sarah is off her G.D. rocker.

Does she realize Medicare is managed by the government? While it ain't perfect....it's better then nothing.

What's scarier is all the people that think she's on to something talking about "death panels". I just hope she makes a complete ass of herself before the elections roll around again so she has no chance of getting anywhere near Washington DC.

She's friends with Michele Bachman, who thinks the Earth is 7000 years old.

Wow.

They should play this before ALL movies.

YouTube - Mastodon - Cut You Up With a Linoleum Knife

My family deserted me......

It's only for a week, they went to Myrtle Beach with my sister-in-law.

What do I have planned for the week?

Sleep.

Eat.

Donuts.

Work on computers.

Ride my bike.

That oughta keep me busy....

Wal-Mart pisses me off.........

Were we live is home to the number 1 Wal-Mart (in sales) in the country. My son and I were just there at 7:15 this morning to buy a few odds and ends......34 registers and one damn cashier and a huge line.

We dumped our stuff and headed down the road. Why the hell they have so many registers....I'll never know-I don't think I've ever been there and seen them all open at once.

In other news....gonna be headed out for some mountain biking for sure in Sunday. My buddy Mike has a new sweetie and she's never been out on the dirt.

I hope I can keep up with her....she's a skinny little thing and in about a month when she gets a little experience-she's probably gonna be able to kick my ass.

I'm sure she'll do fine, in deference to her and Mike and my lack of dirt riding this year...we are gonna be taking it extremely easy. I might even bring a camera along and take a few pics...Redman is my favorite place to mountain bike.

I've had a slightly pinched nerve or something in my shoulder going on for about a week...not that big a deal except I'm having a heck of a time getting to sleep....just can't get comfortable.

My pop gave me a couple of his painkillers and I'm sure one of those will do the trick. In fact, I took one about a half hour ago and I'm starting to get tired now so I think I'll go be unconscious for a few hours.

Ever feel............

Like this after a bike ride?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Yay.

Did the Rail Rail on Sunday with my buddy Mike, his sweetie and a couple other good friends. I think we did something like 10 or 12 miles and had a nice rest stop half way and I had a quite yummy iced coffee mocha slushy with whipped creme.

I probably balanced out my calorie intake with the miles I pedaled but the best news was that I had no extra knee pain the next day.

If you need a good cocktail idea...mix equal parts of diet peach Fresca and grapefruit juice with a shot of the cheapest whiskey you can find (I'm not a whiskey connoisseur). It's not like I'm a drunk or anything, I allow myself 2 cocktails on my evening off every week....good stuff.

This upcoming weekend...looks like we'll be doing a little mild off-roading down at Lake Redman. It'll be the first time this year my mountain bike has been in the dirt...should be fun.

Mike and the Donut Guy go for a ride......

All I can say is Mike is a better man then I.

He I.M.'ed yesterday and insisted I put away the computer for a few hours on Sunday afternoon and go for a little ridey ride.

Sounds like a plan to me...been working my ass off at work and with consulting-I need a break.

In other news...as of yesterday-I don't owe anyone money.

Well, that's not quite true, I do owe my folks 2 grand for helping me get my consulting business of the ground which I'll be stating to pay off in the next couple weeks. I may not owe any money to anyone except my folks....but I also don't have any money either.

I gotta feel bad for our daughter, she's stuck with my van (with the broken AC) this week and she has to navigate and park in downtown Philly. Her car is in the shop with an oil leak. I can see why she might be a little pissed at her car letting her down in the middle of summer....the AC on her car rocks.

I'm fairly sure you could hang meat in her car and it wouldn't spoil.

My van?

It gets me where I'm going but as more stuff on it stops working...it's starting to piss me off.

It's paid for so I suppose I can't complain too much.

It's all about attitude........

A few years ago, I had a situation somewhat similar to this happen to me.

I was the guy calling 911 because our neighbors were away on vacation and I saw 2 guys get out of a white van, fiddle around with their front door and then went inside.

The cops (everyone on duty-it was like 5 or 6 cop cars) surrounded the house and rang the doorbell. No one answered, so the cops went inside (the door was unlocked)....a minute or two later, 2 very scared looking drywall contractors came out with a couple of cops behind them.

My opinion?

The professor has a damn big mouth.

Any cop will tell you- it's all about attitude.

I'm am quite sure that if the professor and been calmer and not shot his mouth off and called the cop racist-this would have been a non-event...Henry oughta be glad he has concerned neighbors instead of looking for a reason to open his piehole and complain about "racist" cops.

Black people can be just as racist as white people.

Nope..... I'm not on drugs.

A co-worker asked me if I was high when I wrote my blog entries. She was wondering how and where I come up with some of the stuff I post.

She says she is almost afraid to load my page up and sorta looks through squinted eyes because afraid of what she's gonna find.

Hey, the wedding video was cool wasn't it?

The 900 pound woman with no neck making macaroni salad soup?

Maybe not so much.

Beer......

I drink at least 2 6 packs of beer a year......if these guys still ran these commercials-I'd buy their beer.

I wouldn't drink it, I'd give it to my brother-in-laws when they came over.

I like this beer in case anyone wants to buy me a 6 pack.

No posts.....

Not much time in the past couple weeks to post much....but I'll leave you with this.

The moon launch if it happened in 2009.

Pretty sad, but that's exactly how it would play out.

Another vacation gone.....

I'm a homebody.

I like nothing better then to take a vacation and remove my brain for an entire week. Take a nap when I feel like it, have a bowl of ice cream for breakfast or stay up until 3 AM reading a book.

Last week, I did all of those things.....and I gotta say-I'm a pretty happy camper. Didn't get to ride any because of nagging chest cold, but hey...things coulda been worse.

I was in a discussion with someone on Facebook concerning the direction of the country. The dude is a devout Catholic and thinks Obama is pretty much Satan and George Bush was real close to the second coming of Christ.

Me?

I just Google Catholic priest and the first 10 news results are about kid touchers.

Kinda hard to have a serious argument with the guy after that.

I didn't vote for Obama...I'm a Libertarian and maybe I wasted my vote-but I voted for Bob Barr. I am fairly sure that the majority of the politicians in Washington have too many conflicts of interest and/or are just plain douchebags and crooks.

I got back to work last night and my faith in human stupidity has been renewed. A guy walks up to the bakery and says....."Are you making donuts?" while I am standing in front of a donut fryer that is full of donuts.

Maybe is wasn't a dumb question, but the guy asking weighed at least 350 pounds and was wearing a Dallas Cowboys half-tee. I bet his back hair looked like this guy.

Remember my time/intelligence corollary? The later it gets in the evening.....the intelligence of the person you're talking to in a supermarket goes down by a proportional amount. Except when my next door neighbor visits on his way home from work-he's pretty damn smart.

If college doesn't work out.....

....my son might have a career as a poker player.

He won 130 bucks last night playing in a tournament...dear old dad busted out as usual.

Not that I play all that often, but I do enjoy playing...just gotta get a little better.

Summer cold.

There isn't a "good" time to get a cold, but the middle of summer has gotta be the worst time to come down with one.

I've had worse colds, but this one is bad enough.

The Tour started yesterday....I gotta be honest and say that I'll be bit torrenting each of the daily stages, I can't stand Versus's habit of including the same 4 commercials every 6 minutes for the next 3 weeks.

I do love listening to Phil Liggett, someone oughta hire him to do some Nascar races.

till later....time to get some sleep.

Time off.......

One of the benefits of staying at one job for a long time is you can get lots of vacation time. I have over 4 weeks and I'll be taking a few days off next week.

On the agenda.....

-Maybe a couple of nice slow bike rides on my new townie bike. I bought it last year and it has less than 10 miles on it.

-Poker with my son next Thursday night...he's way better than I am.

-Fill in all the stone chips on my van and give it a nice wax job.

-Stay up late and sleep in.

-Hang out with my lovely wife. She can only get one day off...our plans are up in the air at the moment.

I had the best client yesterday. Very nice woman who is around 80 or so was having some problems with her computer. I got her all fixed up and last night we spent some time learning how to use Google Picasa.

All I can say is that I like working for spunky senior citizens and almost without exception- if you are over the age of 60 and never used a computer and buy one- you'll have an easier time learning things if you know that if you do manage to screw something up- I can almost always fix it because most folks over the age of 60 have the smarts to stop before they get in over thier head

If you are between 40 and 60...those are the folks that give me lots of business. Sometimes people think they know what they are doing and once and awhile...they screw up their computer so badly I have to format it and start over.

Kinda like when I was a kid and my dad didn't seem very smart and I knew way more then he did.....the older I got-the smarter he got. I'm almost 50 and he's in his early 70's.....he's pretty damn smart right about now.

Funny how that works out sometimes, isn't it?

Somedays.........

I just hate being around people.

Not really, but constantly cheery people do have something wrong with them.
